Actually the answer is to not destroy the family unit and to handle migrant influx and asylum requests in a humane and compassionate manner (as has been done before). Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you. Are we good?

That's already being done, and has always been done - there is a standing LEGAL system for requesting asylum or access to the USA.  That's not the same as illegally entering the USA, which is what causes the children to be "ripped" away, and their parents to be imprisoned.  You're confusing doing things the legal way, and illegally entering the USA. 

Surely you aren't suggesting that every person who illegally enters the USA with child in tow and demands asylum when caught, should be put up in a nice hotel while the court system processes their case and decides if they should be granted that asylum.  I'm sure that policy wouldn't cause millions more Mexicans to get the same idea, and completely overwhelm the border, the system, and the ability of the USA to pay for all of them.
