Dodge announced the other day they gonna quit making Challenger, only make electric cars from now on. I don't see the current lithium production thing as being sustainable

Complete idiots. Like you really think guys who drive Hemis are going to go buy an electric Dodge? A total disregard for their biggest target market.

Those guys will all be dead soon enough. We're one big battery/charging advancement away from gasoline powered vehicles becoming obsolete.

I am curious about one thing. Given the current status of the kaliphornya electrical grid, exactly how many power generating stations are they in the process of building? They can barely handle the load now without rolling brownouts / blackouts so how are they going to handle the increase in power requirements from the heavy amps / watts the chargers will draw?

Well I for one, cannot WAIT to spend $57,000 on a single vehicle. Between wife and I we have two trucks and a Jeep, and if you had all three together they're not worth $57,000

The base model Tesla is around $42k, right around the same amount Americans pay for the average vehicle. As far as the electric grid.. Every journey has many traffic lights along the way. If you wait for all of the lights to be green, you'll never even get started.

And it was a natural progression of people choosing what was more efficient and better. I think with electric vehicles were going backwards a little bit if we're forced into those. They don't have the range and charging is a problem. If you have to wait 30 minutes after you even get to a charger just to get you to your next stop that's a waste of time for me.

Gas stations were few and far between back in the day.

Gas powered automobiles were exactly reliable back then either.

I sense that there are a lot of people posting in this thread who do not own electric cars.  Once you have one (and have put the 220 line in your garage), there's no going back.  We have a Tesla 3, and it is just a plain hoot to drive.  The acceleration is unmatched by anything short of a muscle car (and possibly not by them, in the short run).  True, we'll take one of the gas cars on trips that will exceed 200 miles, but that's just because we're lazy and don't want to spend 20 minutes in a rest area.  I expect that will change as we get bolder (and even older).  But those trips are rare, possibly two or three times a month.  The rest of the time, the range is not a problem.

I haven't yet met an electric car owner who regrets the purchase.

You might think so, but try riding your horse down the interstate and see what the government says about where you can ride your horse...
