I could be wrong, because I may not know better. But isn’t the wings with star a Flying Tigers emblem?  Or is it universal? I asked because I just made a FT emblem for my old squad, which is now empty. Learn me.

The winged star with red circle in the center on a blue background was the US AAF emblem.   Flying Tigers may have used it, but I doubt it.  But they were taken over by the USAAF in mid-1942 I believe, and became the core of the 23rd FG...

They used it several times. Thanks, you confirmed my thoughts.

No prob.  When I think of Flying Tigers emblem, I only get the Disney-like tiger with little wings, sometime I think he's jumping through a hoop or the Chinese AF symbol?

Yep, thats original character. It morphed into or from a meaner version.. I didn’t research on  dates of versions. But the one you mention is widely used.

Sorry didn’t mean to hijack thread.

Here's F. with a smaller Balken Cross, and a larger B-17 side view.  Trying after all to make it look like the elements want to burst out of the patch.

F.

Liking much better with the smaller cross.

Combatants/ Globe

This one is also really nice.

The Krupp Stahl eagle sure adds interest. But the cartoon font is even more in striking contrast with the otherwise serious theme.

Pardon my ignorance but what is the story behind the yellow winged snowman?

Winged snowman was the insignia of the 8th AAF, the winged star was adopted 1942 for all AAF everywhere. Every one likes a bad bellybutton flying star.

Oh, so it is a snowman! But yellow? I have been taught not to eat yellow snow... Anyhoo, thanks for explaining. To me it looked like a winged snowman hiding behind Captain America's shield. Not too far from the actual thing.

E.                 F.

G.                 H.

Anybody else working on a patch design?   Just curious, does anybody know who designed the earlier patches?

I asked Brooke about it when he first mentioned it...he said:
Nefarious, Blauk, 96Delta, Krusty, DoK, Fencer, Kermit, SilverFox, Guppy35

I like F but it would depend if Brooke thinks there's too much detail with the B-17 profile, if so then E.
