It's been legal for some time.In fact, our government has contracted several people to grow it for them.

It's also legal for a woman to walk down the street topless if she so chooses.

Both of these policies were the result of legislation passed by our current Liberal Party.

Newsflash:  Queues 10 miles long have formed today at US customs checkpoints all along the US - Canadian border.  Thousands of Americans are heading for Canada, reasons unknown.  The Canadian tourism minister was last seen rubbing his hands, laughing like a maniac and sporting a new pair of contact lenses with dollar signs imprinted on them.

lol...Yup, the liberals have their prioties straight...legalize herb and public nudity....meanwhile the Prime Minister is about to resign over a spat with his Finance Minister which has all but torn apart their own party.

Don't get me wrong...I think they have the right idea with these particular laws...but I wouldn't put the Liberals on a pedestal quite yet.

Swoop..lol!

i highly doubt that popeye.
i very higly doubt it. and just because theres government contractors growing the herb doesnt mean that people are going to be getting it for a while. mostly people will still have to contact someone on the street.

Pot is NOT legal in Canada yet, don't believe that previous poster.  It IS legal IF you can get a doctors approval for it, and then you need glaucoma or some other ailment.

Hundreds of people across the country are charged with possesion, traffic, and manufacture of mary J every day still.

This law will overturn all previous convictions, as well as make pot use legal, AND controlled by the government.

In other words the economy in British Columbia will absolutely tank.  10 billion CASH a year is injected by the users/growers/distributors DIRECTLY into the Canadian economy, mostly in B.C.  Pot will likely no longer be a profitable side venture for people any longer, not when you'll be able to buy it in stores, IE stores under fed control.  When the fed gov't decides to take all that money for itself, or at least a large whack of it....well, don't expect a "transfer" payment back to the province anytime soon BC guys.  It'll all get rolled into health care.

This is all just another Liberal party scam.  It sounds good to users of pot, but in the long run it won't be.

Also realize that at any given time there is 250+ US agents from the BATF, DEA, and FBI in the lower mainland in BC.  This is a symbol of the commitment of the US's war on drugs.  They will go absolutely crazy if Canada legalizes it.  Think of the wait at borders, if you'll still even be able to get across.

"So then your honour,I ask the defendant to answer "Yes" or "No" to my question...

"Is Marihuana LEGAL in Canada?"..."Your Honour...Please instruct the defendant to answer"...

"Do I have to answer?" says GMAN..

Pot is not legal yet. But here in Vancouver you can walk down the street and spark a fatty and not have to worry about cops smashing your head into the pavement.

Its been that way here for 10 years, very lax as far as pot smoking goes. They prefer to bust the growers.

Dog out........

From what I understand.  Trafficing is illegal, actual pot smoking is not.

Interesting reading for our US counter parts...

http://www.canada.com/victoria/story.asp?id={3C0770E1-B77E-4C16-8567-7E5228D9AF67}

"The Supreme Court will be greatly emboldened and empowered by nine Senate members unanimously saying legalize marijuana,'' reasoned Emery. "A lot of us suspect that all along the House of Commons wants the Supreme Court to rule on this so they can go to the Americans and say, `It's not our fault. It was that Liberal-minded court.'''

Dog out..........
