That's about how I am. I'll start 2 or 3 at the same time when I feel like building, then stop at the painting stage where they sit covered by paper until I get in the mood to paint. I've got a lot of partially assembled kits in boxes waiting for the next step. As we speak, a coat of Testor's Gloss Cote is drying on some rims for a CART Reynard race car that I started 6 months ago, but only just started painting a couple of days ago. The components are sitting on top of a sheet of paper covering an F-16A under construction for about a year now. Once I get everything painted, the car should go together quickly, then it'll just be a matter of touch-up and decaling.

I see these pictures of guys' workbenches with a model on top and a library of paints underneath and I wonder "how can they build just one model at a time?"

Yeah, mass production is the way to go... while one is drying... go to work on the next. It's easiest to do several aircraft that have the same paint scheme, i.e. US Navy WW2 fighters or Luftwaffe WW2 fighters. I did an Avenger, Helldiver, Wildcat, and PBY all at the same time: same interior colors: zinc chromate, same pilot colors w/mae west, and 1 or more of 4 shades of blue with either a white or gray underside. I did a Hellcat, Tigercat, and Corsair all at the same time: Dark Sea Blue.

The ones I dread are the all-white or all-aluminum schemes. Too much work and/or never quite comes out right.

I haven't made any time for plastic models lately, but here is my latest creation for the sim Strike Fighters. The 2nd model airplane I ever built was a Revell 1/72 F-4E which I attempted to paint as a Thunderbird. The result was my favorite model for a long time. Of course I was only in the 2nd grade at the time, so it looked terrible. I was not allowed to paint models anymore for years because I ruined my Sunday School clothes

I put a lot of work into this. The crew name blocks on the canopy are readable when zoomed in at 1024x768 or better and have the correct names for each tail number.

Ive been working on my b-17G for about 8 months now! Always start to work on it then find something else to do. Just picked up an A-10A Thunderbolt II so now I have more parts laying around:( before Im done the B17 will probably have some of the Mavericks mounted under her wing hehe:D

Blasphemer!!!!! B-17 is the best looking plane and model in the whole wide world and doesn't need "enhancements" like modern weapons... next you'll be talking about blowing it up with firecrackers.

For the record, I have never burned or blown up a single one of MY models... now other people's models are another story

Wow nice pics guys, I've been thinking about getting into modelling for awhile now. I haven't tried once since my last model ended up buried in mud in the back yard when I was 10.

Anywho are their any good websites out there for model beginers with tips and such to help me with my first go at modelling? Was thinking of going for a F6F or somthing that was painted all one color to make life easier for me.

Just finished up a 1/48 Tamiya FW-190A8 "White 2" with JG-51 Molders markings - the first plane I flew when I joined the squad in Warbirds.

Next will be the 1/48 Monogram P-47D Razorback with 325th FG markings for my plane in my current squad.

Then the 1/48 F6F-3 Hellcat that I flew while a member of VF-27 Hellcats.

Will post pictures as soon as I can get my digital camera to talk to me.
