Spit5 is more agile than the 38, but I don't believe the La7 is. Of course, I'm a newbie 38 compared to some of you guys.

The P-38 is the perfect opponent of either plane, Manx.  The Spit V is more nimble but far, far slower.  The P-38 is more nimble than the La7 (in my experience P-38 vs. Shane's La7 anyway) while being slower.

Thus a P-38 can run from the more agile Spit V and turn with the faster La7.  It's laughable to pretend, as Lazer has, that the P-38 requires ubermensch abilities to fly well.  It matches up nicely to either the Spit V or the La7 if you fly to its strengths.

That's been my experience with it as well. I've fought Shane's La7 with my 38 as well, and the fight is close until the speeds get slow and the 38 takes over. It's definitelly not a jab at Shane, as I believe he can do things with an La7 that I'd never be able to do (not that I'd want to tho ) with it. Just surprised I guess to see Lazer stating that the La7 might be nimbler than the 38. As for fighters that I'm afraid of, I don't honestly think there are any. Not because I'm any better than anyone else, but because it's still just a game. Here are people that I think are very good "at their style". Can only really compare pilots in planes that I've spent some time in.

38's

Innominate (fought him once...had a great time.)
Kappa (smart pilot)
Frenchy
Gball
Ovrlord
Spiegel
Akak (another smart 38 driver)

Jugs

Leftfoot (agressive turnfighter)
Frenchy (just that good)
Specs (if he isn't a 56th yet, don't know why not)

Leviathn (not sure how he does that stuff)
Gball (excellent turnfighter)
Spiegel (can do stuff I could never do in them)
Ovrlord (smart, and turns on a dime)

Mustangs

Rude (very smart, and turns fairly well)
BlueMako [sp] (fun wingman, always survive when he's around)
Any 441 Silver Fox pilot (shameless plug)

There are of course other pilots in the game that fly their planes quite well, but since I don't know much about their ride, I can't really comment. I've also probably missed a bunch of players who've handed my arse to me hundreds of times, but it's just an oversite.

P38s good against a Spit V because it is faster... against a Spit IX it is dogmeat, in my opinion.

The La7 will eat the p38 alive at all alts under 18k....  (insert g10 vs 38 also up to 25k)

Note thats the 2 cannon la7 not the heavy devy 3 meat grinder...

La7 at stall speeds will be under radii - ed by the 38 but not out turned...

The la7 only needs to get 6 position at any distance and its engine will do the rest....  

Run him down..  Force him to turn and e fight him to death...

the 38 is great until it gets under 250mph....

after that it becomes a big target thats all...   Yeah you might pull a trick or two but the la7 is a real bear when flown by a ace...  Near unstoppable. with its  acceleration... only thing holding la7 back is its fuel load...

PS the LA7 is dweeby ride...(unperked)  Its like a g10 except it has no airlon lock up over 400mph ias... increased firepower, roll rate,  highspeed handling you name it...  Near perfect air to air ride...  Too many novices fly that thing and give it a bad name.

There is no one pilot I "fear." Well, except for Urchin, but we're both rook . When I die, it's usually because I did something really stupid after geting a kill.. not because someone outflew me. I haven't been killed by anyone "good" recently.. not that I can remember, anyway. The DA is a different story

First off... it DOES take 2 to HO... usually. Unless you're flying on the deck, or engagine a hurricane or zeke, it's not hard to avoid a HO. All you have to do is fly underneath them, and they'll usually go for a shot.. giving you the opportunity to do a loop and come down on them while they're still flying upside down. And if I'm flying a 110G2 or a 190A8(with spud cannons), I'll HO anyone who has the balls, ala AGJV44.

And as for the DA... unless the person HO's you on the merge, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a shot at their nose. If you're in an angle fight, by definition, the only shot you're going to get is at their nose. If I beat someone around on the merge and there's a chance I'll get my nose on them, you better believe I'm going for the shot.

Also depends on the play of the fight IMO.

38 vs spit, 38 will loose alot of advantage as fight goes on. Best to use tactics or engage into fight if a quick victory can be achieved. Else egress. Always kill spits quick if possible is my philosophy or dont tangle. They just keep too much enegry in a fight.

38 vs La-7, as fight goes on, gains advantage. La-7s usually get the 38 at start of engagement because of superior performance thus being able to dictate the attack on his terms. As fight progresses if he misses initially, 38 is a worthy opponent and probable victor unless la-7 buggs out or runs away (which they usually do). I love droping flaps on an la-7 if I get that chance.

LOL...I've got an old AW clip of me hosing SHANE bout 5-6 in a row in an La-5...of course he was OOPSY then I was a hell of alot better than I am now (SIGH)...talk about star wars #$%...what's that old quote "obi-wan the circle is now complete..."  Anyway, think I'd put my money on Shane .
