Yes it would be cool, but would defeat the purpose.  I say no runstang if this setup ever sees the light of day.

for you maybe!  I'm not that good in 109's yet.  I need the G-10's power to get my butt outta the situations I get myself into!  :D

Ooo, Sabre that would rock!  do a 9th AF vs LW setup.  Leave out the B-17 and P-51 (mostly used by the 8th AF).  Oh, and as to when the LW has an advantage?  Anytime there's a Me262 in the setup.  ;)  Honestly though, the 109G-10 saw action months before either the P-38L or P-47D-30.  It should be included in a setup featuring the P-38L or P-47D-30.  :)

wouldn't really be necessary.  The 9th AF used B-26's and A-20's mostly for their bombing sorties.  Combine that with the P-38 and P-47D-30's ordnance capabilities and the Allieds will have significant strike capabilities without a heavy bomber.  The 8th AF was the one with the B-24's and B-17's for strategic strikes.  The 9th AF was more tactical strikes, if I am not mistaken.  :)

The 109G-10 entered service in October 1944.

P38L (and P38J-25) July 44 in the ETO.

I dont have an exact date for the P47D-30 off hand, but it was in service by September 1944. P-47D-25 (May 1944) is a better choice, or even the P-47D-11.

Sancho probably has the exact dates for the 47s im sure.

For info.

what's your source on the 109G-10?  Funkedup (I think) posted a list way back when that had the 109G-10 as in service on March 1944 and no one disputed it when it was posted, IIRC.

I havent found an exact date for the G-10 yet but March is probably right. The 109K entered service in Oct. '44.

I have seen the March 1944 date posted before, but I dont beleive its correct.

For starters I will give this link that includes the service dates for all the LW day fighters in the JGs from 3/42 to 12/44:

http://www.ww2.dk/oob/bestand/jagd/bjagd.htm

JG77 has the earliest entry there, for 10/44.

I have seen no book that gives a date prior to 10/44, and there are many internet sources that quote 10/44, I will leave one here, by Richard Corey, he has his sources at the bottom of the article:

http://www.yumodel.co.yu/batajnica_air_show/a_tale_of_two_me109s.htm

The 109K and 109G-10 were both delayed by the DB605D engine development, they were in fact, delivered at almost the same time, in the Fall of 1944. Both types were in service after the 109G-14.

The first large scale use of either type was "Bodenplatte" in January 1st, 1945. I dont mean 1st mission, I just mean used in significant #s.
