Gearheads Unite!!
« on: May 14, 2003, 05:17:28 PM »
After the Mustang post, it seems we have a fair amount of gearheads among us.

Who are you?  What do spend your time under in the garage?  Past present cars of mention?  What would you buy if you invented the Internet?

Current:  1988 911 Carrera, purchased in February... VW bug on steriods.  Still stock, slower than dripping honey, but not for long - track car coming to life.  Taking it up to Pocono in 2 weeks for the first time, Summit Point after that, and Watkins Glen later in the summer.

Former:  1987 944 Turbo, far from stock, owned since 1999, sold in February, one of the most underrated sports cars you can buy - makes a fantastic track car.  Very high maint.

Someday:  1997 993 Turbo.  Who can argue with the bellybutton end?  Last of the air cooled.  1973 911 Carrera RS, nuff said.  1995 Ferrari F355, for the sound alone.  1989 E30 M3, for putting around.

PS:  Oh... and no Ricers allowed... that means you Funked... whoopee punk.

:D

My current car is the Black 68 GTO in my icon, 400, 400 turbo tranny... fun car but I do not get to work on it much do to all my tools being stock behind all my sister junk in MY storage unit!

My last GTO looked like hell but it was ****ing awsome..

Same 400, but a richmond gear six speed. Laz has that now! 3.55 rear gears and limited slip.

11 inch front disks with Global west upper arms. inch and a third front sway bar. No back one needed with the global west arms.

The car was a screamer and handled way way way better then my buddies 89 stang.

I parted it out due to my dads death, no place to keep it, and it had a very bad crack in the frame, I just did not have the time to swap in a new frame from the parts car before his estate closed and the garage had to be cleared.

I had 2 other GTOs, all 68s, they ended up being parted out to make the good handling one..

I also had an 84 K5 blazer! That thing rocked! Was fun as hell to wheel, lol.. Did not hope it up, just had to keep it up... second favorite vehicle of all time for me.

(Hey laz you never got ahold of me on thos Suspension arms. lol... )

Oh and what would I get with unlimited money? Hell I would buy an indian adventures block and built a 500 plus cubic inch Pontiac motor, slap it in a 68 GTO, with tons of suspesion mods, a jerico Six speed, and slap some AC in it, and Fuel injection! The go to driving school. After that, travel the country like Cain from Kung fu! Defeating all the dopes driving new "fast" cars
Hmm where would I paint the kill markings?

and buy a hell of a lot of clasic cars!

55 healey with a 331 chevy at around 420-450 hp.. muncie 4 speed and narrowed chevy rear.. bilstien shocks traction bars.

69 El Camino 468 big block with Richmond gear 6 speed trans and 12 bolt 3.31 gears.   modified 4 link suspension with hotchkiss control arms and sway bars  and bilstein shocks .. positive castor ... oh... vintage air air conditioner..

If I had unlimited funds what would I buy?   probly a **** load of classics but ...

I would build a car...  57 vette..   all c5 suspension..  richmond 6 speed  aluminum 540 inch twin turbo big block... ut some wint tunnel time in to keep the damn thing glued down at high speed.

I already know way too much about what you dorks drive and you know way too much about my car.
If I had unlimited funds I wouldn't spend it on one car.  I'd get a stable.  Ferrari 250 GTO, AC Cobra 289, Jaguar D-Type, Grand Sport Corvette, Mercedes 300SLR, Birdcage Maserati, etc.  I'd hire Lazs to turn wrenches.  And yes I would insure the cars before letting him near them.

GTO, let's do it.  Lazs promised me I could play with his toys.  You gotta bring your car.

Is this where I get to use my "I can take them in the twisties!" argument?  :D

217HP stock... and a 2600lbs curb weight... not "slow" but definately not "fast."  Im hoping to build it up to 230-240 RWHP by the end of the summer - beefing up the brakes first though.

You're screwed.  Dowding told me the British have a TVR minivan which can out-corner a Chaparral 2J.
