I'm in California for a busness outing and go to a Sav-On drugs in Baldwin Park.

The store is new and nice, but parked literally right outside the door is a filthy bum "greeting" every person that leaves the store with : "change for a homeless person?"

This guy is in a chair with a sign 3 feet right in front of the exit....you CANNOT avoid him, yet nobody seems to ask him to get the hell out of there.

I gave him one penny as I left just to see what he would do.....and he got up and threw it in the trash.. LOL!

Filthy bums......I hate them.

Jesus said give money to bums? Why don't you go around and look for bums to give money too....since Jesus said.... then at the end of the day Jesus will write you a check for your expenses.

here's a good test to see wich bums need help and which have just found an easy income (one loacal news crew hired an actor to play the part of a bum at a local off-ramp, he made $27 per hour for 4 hours).

the wife and I don't give cash (ok I did give a buck to the guy with the "I'm not a liar, just saving up for a hooker and a 5th" sign), I'll give them food (usually a piece of fruit) or a stick of gum, maybe a bottle of water.

you can imediatly see who needed the help, most are greatful but you always run into a couple are pissed they didn't get cash.

It's a win win system as I see it. those who really needed some help got it and you get to piss off those who are just too lazy to work.

A few months back here in Bristol UK a homeless guy got banned from the town centre because he was hassleing people too much.

He was getting shelter off the gov, and the police estimated his yearly income at around £16,000 - £18,000 pounds!!!!!

In defence of himself he said 'at least I dont steal for drug money'

I'm not sure what you mean Sirloin. I feel great myself, even in spite of the song.

And If I were homeless, I wouldn't park my aass in a chair in front of a store and beg for money.....I'd be getting money from the government and I would be hussling for a job.

$27/hr!? and thats tax free!

I'll help with food. sometimes when I'm at the local surplus store I'll get extra MRE packets and have a few handy to give out when I encounter a homeless person at an offramp or the like. its only a few bucks per, and its a high calorie meal or two for someone who needs it. (I know.. MREs can be considered cruel and unusual)

Neat story. You go to California on business and see a homeless person there... then share this with everyone here on the BBS. Where do you live, Nuke?
