You Euros with the smug attitudes regarding our recent power problems are clueless. Take a look at France. How many have died due to a little heat? 2,000... 3,000... maybe 5,000? Their heat wave would be considered a mild summer here in many heavily populated areas in the US. How many died during our crisis, 1 or 2.

There is no comparing the drain on our power grids with yours.
Here we put salt on Margaritas, not sidewalks.

Got to stop visiting here...either that or I'm going to write a thesis on idiots on the net....room temp iq's abound.

Thanks ;)

I just wanted to point out that I find it amusing how that country thought they can have a nuclear war when a minor malfunction brings 50 millions into darkness, without even basic sanitary services. You know, they had a first nulear-war plan against USSR in 1946... They should better spend some money on civilian infrastructure instead.

I don't think that there is anything in this world worth the full-scale nuclear war...

The USA is still a viable, going State.

The USSR  no longer exists.

You're right Boroda, I don't know how we expected to outlast the USSR.

BTW, can anyone get this hook out of my mouth :)

sure, it doesn't have anything to do with nuclear war. Dozen of standard army "ring cumulative charges" (K3K) used against electric line masts can bring you down to stone age :(

it is error in translation , 10M is not 10 meters, but 10 miles

it looked like lots of NYers exercised that day , it looked like the NY marathon on TV.

i heard many NY workers keep a "go-bag' at work after 9-11, with flashlite, sneakers, energy bars, radio, etc.

If I worked in a high rise, I would seriously keep a parachute with me too.  I know this is off-topic, but would a parachute work if it was kept in its pack for over a year?  Does one have to unfold it every once in a while to make it work?
