I dunno lazs, I am glad we live in this great country where I can know your wrong and disagree freely. You are right about speed isnt everything though, but it sure is fun when you happen to have it around.

The Boss Hoss is way faster any which way you look at it, 0-30 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile plus top end ( around 240mph)

ammo... you didn't read what i wrote... the Harley dresser he ownbs is far from stock... it is about 2 sec faster in the quarter than stock. this puts it within a sec or less of the suzukui... I would say that "faster but not a world of difference faster" is an apt description for the suzuki in question. He rides both bikes.

So Laz, what cam does he have in the dresser? I put an SE4 in my Heritage Softail, along with the ignition, jet kit, etc. etc - good grunt low range but am thinking about changing it out for an SE1 or some other.

You didnt, by chance, ever hear of a guy named Len Soares did you?

Ya know bonden... he doesn't even know! It all came as a "performance package" and he didn't even install it himself. The "pamplet" that he showed me didn't even give valve timoing specs.... refering to the cam as "a performance cam" what the hell is that? No CFM numbers on the heads.... nothing. still... it does perform well.

I would love to see the FOOL that would even consider trying to go 240MPH on a boss hog! Forget if the power to weight ratio says it can do it I doubt the frame geometry could handle over 150mph. My bet is it would shake its head so bad it would pitch the rider right off the bike.

Sorry I mised it lazs, I am getting old I guess. Even so, a second at the strip would be considerable. In terms of car lengths, that would be about 15. I would call that getting "whipped".

Ammo... I know what a second at the strip is. It is more like 6 car lengths tho. Still... you wouldn't notice that much. when you get down past about the 11's it's all way fast. I don't hink that most of the guys here that ride these sport bikes could handle a 10 sec quarter mile run. It really isn't that easy.

ice... I know only one guy with a Bosshog and he said that at about 120 the bike feels like it is on rails... no real sensation of speed at all... solid as a rock. the low rpm of the engine adds to the illusion. I don't think I would take one to 240 either tho. Or any motorcycle except at bonniville maybe.

Not that I really care, but I ran the numbers anyway. Lets take a camaro, or corvette, or similar style. The car is running in the 10-11 secod range, and rolls through the traps at 125 MPH. That translates to 183 FPS, divided by 14.5 feet for the car length, we get around 13 car lengths. I was off by a couple.

I guess different people ride for different reasons. If someone's scooter outran mine by 20 lengths at a drag strip it would not matter a whit to me. I don't race my scooter nor do I intend ever to do so. Especially not on a public street, road, or freeway. I bought mine so I could "cruise", heavy accent on the "Cruise". Maybe even "cruise" my way down the highway to another town. Life is too short to begin with, why tempt fate with an ultra fast scooter? If your not going to use it's capabilities, why bother having em.?
