Encyclopedia Cinematica
Animation, Cartoon: a cinematic process where film cells are generated by processes other than photography of live performers.   True cartoon animation includes the painting of a series of individual cells to give the appearance of motion through the concept of persistance of vision, and most importantly the voice characterizations of Mel Blanc. All other forms are a pale comparison to this true form, and must pay homage.

Ha!!  Starblazers... Been a very long time since I have seen the likes..  Used to get up and watch it as a kid.

Robotech totally kicked bellybutton when I was younger. Was one of the best anime I can remember from that time. I actually bought some of the episodes on DvD. Would buy more but they are so exspensive! hehe  Anyone know a good link to DL more of the episodes?? Robotech was divided into 3 sagas wasn't it? I can remember 3 different story lines anyhow...

I never got into anime as an adult, but Japanese cartoons kicked the crap out of anything coming out of the US when I was a kid.

For me it started with Speed Racer and Battle of the Planets. Then, in 1978 my family moved to the Philippines and I encountered the world of "big bellybutton robot cartoons" Oh man, Mazinger Z, Voltus V... it was awesome. Then one day they all just dissapeared. I had heard that President Marcos pulled the plug on them, but I don't know. VHS tapes of those shows were like kiddie crack at that point.

Star Blazers was allowed to Air as a prime time type of show somtime around 1981 maybe. That was cool.

I have a couple of Star Blazer and Battle of the Planets episodes on Video tape, I still get a kick out of watching them.
