not likely from me,  my 82 year old father has Alzhiemers.

BTW- did reagan end comunism?  the same people who claim he did are ussually the same ones who say it is a impractical form of gov't and was doomed to fail.  so which is it?  was comunism great and strong but old ronny ray-gun put an end to that dirty menace.  or was it doomed for failure and he just happened to be in office when it happened, and took credit for it?

He forced their hand, they couldnt keep up with USA militarily and feed their people or privide them consumer goods.

For example imagine if Carter had won in 80, do you honestly think a pacifist like him would have expanded the military as much as Reagan?

I'm a bit older Capt. Apathy and I remember all that leftist talk about Iran-Contra, trying to make our President look bad.  But they couldn't catch Ronnie, could they?  You know why?  Because his credentials were and are, and stand to this day, impeccable.

If Ronald Reagan said he didn't know about it, he probably didn't.  Now put that in your pipe and smoke it, Capt. Apathy.

I am tired of hearing about Iran-Contra, which in my opinion is nothing more than a leftist grabbing, feeble attempt at discrediting one of the greatest presidents of the United States.

because he was a good liar?

it seemed a clear cut issue to me.

either he knew and was un-fit for office, or he didn't know what his people where doing and was un-fit for office.

"...BTW- did reagan end comunism? ".

Yes.  If you hear different from any of the people that actually lived there, don't believe them.  They don't know what they are talking about.

if Clinton or Gore had been pres during 9/11, they'd be gettin happy in the Oval Office while people die rather than do their duty as presidents.

If Reagan is a liar, then I suppose you know the truth.:p

Ahhhh, so it's clear cut to you heh?:D  And unfit for office too.

Well, if you say so.  Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

We have to agree to disagree.

Cmon thats not fair. While I dont think Gore would have been very decisive after a 911 I dont think he would do nothing.

but neither would have pursued the terrorists nearly as aggressively as Bush.  Bush isn't a great president, but he's a damn good one :)

After I have heard about 09-11 and when i realised what really hapened - my first thought was "they will attack us"... I was so afraid I started to look for re-entry traces in the sky...

If such a tragedy could happen in Reagan times - it could mean a real opportunity for our countries to cooperate. Cooperate honestly, better then during WWII, not like now when US and their allies support terrorists who attack Russia, and even provide military aid for the countries who host them.

We were the first country to offer asistance in "war on terrorism", we backed up Northern Alliance and provided 100% of combat supplies and advisors to them, and I expected that the "war on terrorism" will be unconditional. But, as usual, we soon discovered that some terrorists are better then others.

Well, as much as I liked him, he never retaliated for the 1983 Beruit bombing that killed over 200 Marines.   That sent a message to the Arab world that has taken a long time to correct.

a pacifist like him

that pacifist graduated from the Naval Academy and served in WW2.  McGovern flew B-24s out of Italy too.  so there

I think it is funny that people who cant even carry water for people like this want to call insult their patriotism or their manhood or whatever by saying they dont want to fight.

The PC term for them, I believe is CHICKENHAWKS.

Always ready to let someone else go to war and do the bleeding.
