Ecke, first of all, how do you know you were talking to a minor? (the newbie).

Second of all, if it was a minor, where do you think they learn that attitude?

All I'm saying, is lets employ some common decency.

I'm out.

Some people get muted when they might not deserve it.

So freeking what?!!!!!!
They didn't get booted from the game, imprsioned, banned, fined, beaten, or humiliated.  10 minutes of silence in a game where you can succeed w/out ever typing or saying a word is nothing.  These people that cry about getting muted unjustly haven't ever said anything that I've seen must ABSOLUTELY be said.  The world didn't end because they were silenced for a few minutes. The "war" wasn't lost.  No animals or children got hurt(unless the same muted people started beating members of their own household, which I believe to be possible since they are lame enough to get upset over being muted in the first place.)

Exactly you are paying for a service .
And part of that service is the voice and text !
And when it is muted  you are at that time not getting what you are paying for in FULL.

Now I know I am splitting hairs here but the point i am trying to make is the monotoring system as is  is discriminitory in nature.

I am not saying that all words should be availible .
But I do find it odd that you can SAY (voice) anything you want on country, squad or private vox you want.

Now heres an example say im on range vox and Im ranting about something.
And someone has there Kids in the room with them and I say the F word !! Noone had to bother to read it did they .

It was heard thru out the whole knights side (atleast on range channel).

You see my point?

As you can see this whole topic Is a huge can of worms for everyone .

So i think the best thing to do Is to just fly have fun and stay a little light hearted about it rgr.

All about how ya vent verbally or fingerly--no real need to swear in either situation.
HTC isn't to my knowlege isn't a free speach zone and it's thier rules.

Personally I like it the way it is.

Thanks I was caught by a bot so :)

And btw my exemple was flawed ... I checked the film it was not the word "ballon" and after a google search I understand why it can be censored :D

Steve imagine there is a french moderator : using the simple word "con" will get you booted :)
I rarely cuss in english (I've a better knowledge of french bad word :p) but being muted when speaking politly in another language is just extremly funny :D

Bottom line is that this is not an old boys club, that meets in someones basement, smokes cigars, drinks whiskey etc.

There are alot of minors who are active in all arenas at any given time. If you wouldn't behave like that in front of them in real life, why on earth would you feel you have the right to behave like that online?

Profanity is pretty well understood by all. There are really no "secret" swear words. When we use them we are fully aware of the implication.

To say that "well, I didn't say the actual word, I mean i even spelled it differently!", is irrelevent. The implication is there.

HTC owes it to its customer base to provide a fun and hassle/harrasment free environment. That is what we pay for.

Kids are like parrots to a certain degree. They will behave as they see others behave, so why encourage it?

That is really the point.

cheers,

Thats it!
I dont chat bad words anymore. Easy job so far.
But the mods should increase their effectivity dramatically.
There is a lot of bad violation in ch1. Not all the time, but often.
Common decency..common sense...if the mod knows and rules with those terms in mind, i would certainly not have opened this thread.

It is incorrect statement IMHO, Ecke in an honerable opponent, and not a flamer for sure.

About the problem, my position is very simular to the Tilt's one. Moderation is something which is needed. I am myself moderate some forums and email lists, and I know that moderators always have it from every side; some people say you abuse the power and enjoy it, others say that you must make it even harder, and almost everybody are unhappy about the moderators job and think they can do it better. :) IMHO  moderators job is very unenjoyable but needed. Someone has to do it, so others can enjoy discussions and playing. Errare humanum est, so sometimes mods make mistakes. Try to understand it and help them. After all, moderation helps more than create problems.

There is nothing wrong with using a few swear words in my opinion, however, whats the use?  You can easily replace them with words that are ok and considered unprofane and get the same effect.  However I do think its a crock that I can get muted for saying S*** but Rauml can ask someone to toss his salad on ch1 and be ok...
