What type of controller setup do you use?
« on: March 27, 2004, 09:50:23 AM »
Im just looking for a little information on what the breakdown is on the number of us that are using a HOTAS as compared to the single stick controller.

Myself and a partner are doing up some prototypes of a compact and ergonimic controller mount that is targeted at the flight simmer but will be useable for all types of computer gaming.
So we need to have an idea of how the numbers look and what potential interest there may be.

So what do you use and do you think you'd be interested in such a product?

 Thanks,

I have all CH gear ... Fighterstick ... Pro Throttle ... Pro Pedals.

I don't see how your proposed product (a mount) fits into the scenario. Is it to be used in conjunction with, or a replacement.

Maybe a better description of your idea might help.

saitek x36 stick/throttle here plus CH pedals hooked up with an analog driving wheel.  Works very well, very programmable, although programming interface is non-intuitive and game-based rather than stick-program based so it's not trivial to create a program, load it to the stick, and force it to stay there.  After I get it working though, it's very nice, reasonably durable, and has tons of buttons, hats, knobs, etc. to program.

I switched from a CH setup to this and haven't wanted to switch back except on the rare occasions when I have to mess with the stick programming, but I get over that soon enough.  One of the best features (IMHO) of AH is the stick config and keymapper settings.  You can mix/match anything and get it to work under AH as long as it's recognized by windows.  AH was the first game I ever used that had this level of flexibility and usability.  Custom sensitivity, deadbands, etc etc. is all well beyond almost all other games.

Finally upgraded from an analog CH Jane's Combat Stick, Pro Pedals and Pro Throttle to a USB Combat Stick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals.

After using the USB sticks, I wonder what I waited so long to make the switch.

for those of you unable to afford the usb CH Products stuff, they are having a clearance sale for analog equipment.

You can basically buy a CH F-16 Fighter Stick cheaper than buying the repair parts to rebuild one!

http://www.chproducts.com

You can use an analog game port to USB adapter  which are cheap also.

numerous flyers here are using this set up.

and btw I use all analog CH gear, Fiter Stick, throttle and pedals

Still using a Thrustmaster Xfighter.

was thinnking bout a seitech for a while but the grip seems to be more designed for the handsize of a 9 year old boy.

Planning on getting a CH. Stick eventually. Hopefully that grip isnt to small

If your designing a stick try to keep in mind that not all players are little kids and while I am by no means a BIG man. My handsize is bigger then that of a 9 year old.

What we are doing is making a mount base for your controllers that will allow you full use of them while in a comfortable seated position.

More to come as we make further developments.

Thanks for the replies.
