Lol! (er I shouldn't laugh)...

Drown in buckets of water? How is that even physically possible? I guess standing up to let the water drain rather than attempting to tread water never occured to them.

By average you mean that 48 die of buckets per year? What kinda buckets are these? I mean, even if a kid stays with his head dunked despite losing consciousness, wouldn't his passing out cause the bucket to tip over and spill?

I don't doubt it, but wow, absurd.

Nash, it happens every day- a toddler goes into the back yard, slips into a bucket, birdbath, Koi pond, whatever- and drowns.

It is up to us as Americans to remove hazards from the home- I propose we ban Koi ponds immediately and put safety screens on bird baths. We can give the dead Koi to the Starkist people- maybe they can mix it into their tuna. Ever since they banned dolphins in tuna the stuff tastes like the crap of a Breathologist.

lol! :)   slips and falls into a bucket...

Damn... I admit I haven't actually seen a bucket in a good long time, but they must be making them a whole lot bigger than I remember.

If alcohol was related in 40% what about the other 60%?
Probably soccer moms flapping their yaps on these damn cellphones while putting on their makup or brushing their hair in the rear view at the same time.
I swear see at least 3 or 4 of these people doing exactly that every day. Half the time they are either all over the road or driving in such an annoying mindless manner I feel like running them off the road myself.

One problem with the SUVs is alot of people think they can drive them like they can any other car. They dont get that they are not like any other car. The center of gravity is higher thus making them more prone to flip while making fast tight turns.

Another problem is people tend to think that because they are 4 wheel drive they can take them anywhere on or off road in any kind of weather condition. Again they cant.
These or at least most of them are basically trucks with car suspension systems so they can have a smooth car like ride.
and the ones you can take anywhere have truck suspension systems and ride..well like a truck.
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty

#1) Please provide some data to support this, and if you don't mind, include South Africa.

#2) What do you find so funny about homicide ?

Mind you, I'm not judging your 'World View'.   I'm just trying to  understanding it more clearly.

Hi Otto. [list=1]
  • Certainly, although the file I'm attaching includes figures up to the end of 1999, not beyond. There might be more documents like this on the Home Office website. I don't have time to check as I'm going on a foreign trip starting today. Check out Page 10 of the attached .PDF file.
  • Nothing funny about homicide. Stupidity can be funny. Sometimes.

Fair enough.  That's a lot to digest at once.  Let me get some population data and we'll see were we stand.

airhead... don't you dare tell finestein or boxer your ideas!

nash... are you saying that is not possible for a toddler to drown in a bucket or... that you don't have 5 gallon buckets where you live or... that you don't leave em outside but it wouldn't matter cause it doesn't rain there and you don't water the lawn?

gixer... depends on how you define "American".   If you leave out "undocumented" (non PC term= illegal allien) the rate is probly about 8,000 per 300 million.... If you only count accidents... it is about the 60th most common accident ... far below slipping in the bathtub.

If you count only the white population homicides then it is about like that of canada.

I think I will go shooting today.

Five gallon buckets?? Why would anybody need a five gallon bucket?? Bucket size should be limited to 2.5 gallons max, and those shouldn't have bales. Otherwise people will carry two buckets at once, thereby doubling drowning potential.

Ya know, I'm getting good at this politics stuff and I live in the Heart of Hippie Land... I might run for office.

It is a proven fact that pot is a drug that dose not kill(unless you get in a car and drive). Auto deaths that are pot related do not come even close to those of alcohol related deaths. There is no real reason why pot should be illegal.
