Remarkable dogfights over the past 2 weeks..
« on: January 11, 2000, 07:45:00 AM »
When I first played this sim a couple of months ago (v.34) I was pleasantly pleased...as of late, totally estatic!

I still can't get over how much immersion this sim gives one..I fought in an eight-plane furball (we had 4, they had 4) in the mountain valleys, talk about a kick in the pants!  I about had a heart attack by the time the 10 minute duel was over!  Totally immersed.  Told the wife she may come home from work one day with me slumped over the keyboard, couldn't think of a better way to go out!

Dogfights in the clouds, Wow! though the icon disappears, you can still make out  the silouettes, too cool, wish the game had more weather, even thunderheads, but I imagine that would kill FR.  HT, run for President, and have Pyro, etc. for your cabinet... you'll get my vote.

Does anyone know if GUNCAM will work on this?  I haven't tried it yet, I know it works in about 3 sims I have...also, did a few screen captures, and the colors are all messed up when I view them, is this caused by my JPG viewer?

Having finally played long enough that I have acquired some minimum gunnery skills (read: I no longer use the Brand W "D4" as the firing limit) I would have to agree. Skill level seems to be rising all around as everyone gets the hang of it. The flight modeling is coming along well, too, and this is helping to make all the planes more competitive. Yes, some planes are still easier to kill in than others for me, but that is more a play style issue than something wrong with the modeling.

Looking with anticipation to the future!

You know that AH has a built-in guncam, right?

Popeye, I did not know that!  How has it affected your FR when turned on?  I guess I'll answer that question tonight when I try it.

Yep.  Some of us Air Warrior types are coming along as well.  Took a little while to get used to the lack of a "hit bubble" and the constant need to trim, but whats nice is that the ACM and SA skills from Full Real over there applies exactly the same over here.

Unlike AW, the Mustang even has a place in air combat.

This is my first on-line sim and Ripsnort I could not agree with you more.  The last few weeks have been very intense.

The flyers have been more and more experienced and there is trouble where ever you go.

Sunday night, Knights were protecting F20 that had no ack!  Oh Boy!!  Talk about a Rook beacon.  Everyway I turned there were Knights and Rooks shooting, getting shot at, exploding, smoking, and breaking up.  Six calls all over!  Totally wild!!

Last night someone called that F16 was in trouble and within 2-3 minutes there were about 7-10 Knights there to defend against one of the most deadly team of Bishops I have ever seen.  These guys were good!!!  We held them off but did they take a toll!! I finally went to bed and couldn't sleep!

I logged off at about 11:15pm EST. and it was still going full force.  I don't know if I can take much more of this!  I do have to do a lot less flying as I am taking accounting for the next 16 weeks! Two nights a week!

But I will be on once in awhile to give BaneX a chance to find me!!

P.S.  If you know either TT or Dolomite are up in that damn C205, give them a wide berth unless you have a distinct advantage.  Those SOBs are good in that thing!!

P.S.S.  Should of written "those guys/gals were good"  Covering all possibilities!

Curse you rooks!  33rd tried to turn the tide there last nite but there were just too many Nits uppin from the field.  Bish's had some real killers up and running around there last nite...Wardog, Hangtime, TT, Wlvrn, Nuttz.  Lotta good Bish pilots.

Seems everyone is getting pretty good now.  Even was going to congratulate an enemy Stang pilot on some "Interesting evasives there" when I was pleasantly greeted with a "Yeah, you woulda been dead if it werent 3 on 1"

Funny, despite the fact that he was in my gunsite the whole time, I didnt realize I was in such mortal danger!  I need to be a bit more careful next time!

Nice flying Nits!

Its a shame some people never tell the whole truth..  That person in question was DoctorYO..

I would like to state that psuedo-antagonistic behavior such as making comments "interesting maneuvers" as opposed to “hey nice evasives” could be taken as a trash talking.  Yes I will say again if it weren't for the 3 on 1 you would be dead... Your comments after were "yeah you warped etc**... etc**..") Note the warp comment is not posted on the BB, Typical…

**etc standing for other bull you said.. in one ear out the other..

In a 3 on 1 if the 3 in 7-8 gun passes can't kill the low slow mustang who is pulling every trick he has, throttle chops, side slips, clever jinking and scissors; that only shows the novice piloting on the attackers part. Give me that situation and 2 gun passes. How you ask? simple throttle chop..  All three of you never chopped throttle and locked on to my tail like you should have and I exploited your excess speed by using the ground as a corner to back myself into.  I bought myself 35-45 secs after initial engagement, but due to knights inferior numbers help never came.. All in all you were finally victorious and thats how it goes usually in a 3 on 1, but don't expect me to say nice kill when you spray and pray and then make questionable comments to boot.

Until HT develops a ladder type of system I will not be able to prove my claim that you would be worked over like mess hall bacon by me, but I think I  can wait till then.. Can you??

Please don’t take my comments to heart I  don't want to cause you any strife.

BUT

In a nutshell if you talk trash, expect trash back; and don’t go whining on a BB for acceptance from your peers.

exp. Bash had a nice head-on on me(if there is such a thing) I taunted by saying "nice head-on" he quickly parried with "you gave it to me" my response, “Baaah” ... you know he was right...

See a nice friendly verbal exchange can be given. No whining continuously or BB Spam. Just your comment, and then my comment… or vise versa:   end of exchange…

Don't see him whining on this BB...nor do you see me telling partial truths to further my own acceptance in this AH community.. get a life and cry on someone else’s shoulder.

END

Dweeb flames on grammar spelling and other bull is lame, this is E type and treat it as such.

If you have flames contact me directly as opposed to clogging this BB with Funk..

eHmmmmmmmmmmm..... Mr. "DoctorYo" I must take exception.

.. anybody who gets killed is DEAD.. squeaking about the conditions of death do not in the slightest modify the FACT of the event.. you screwed up; obviously. You're dead. And your griping after the fact is "Talking Trash"

As far as "interesting evasives" goes.. well I've seen warping and stick stirring.. I suppose we all have. I can clearly recall several occasions when I've asked other pilots engaged on a target "did you see THAT?" and I am of course referring to the target under fire hopping about like a rabbit on hot coal.. I usually type to the pilot "please ck your connect; you are warping" Most often the pilot responds with "thanks; I'll relog". Sometimes I get "not me; amazinhunk" When I hear the second I figure I've got a stick stirrer.

So; Good Doctor.. I suggest that the pilot who relayed amazement at your (unsuccessful) evasives was only attempting to find out if you were warping, exhibiting a new Kevlar AC type we ain't familiar with.. or doing something else.

Your hostile response to an even toned question (it was not accusatory) told him the answer.

>>>In a nutshell if you talk trash, expect trash back; and don’t go whining on a BB for acceptance from your peers.<<<

Peer?? You?? Not hardly. I submit you reside far further down the foodchain than pilots like Bash, Dingy or Swager. I don't give the proverbial rats behind how well you can fly whatever it is you fight in.. yer nasty attitude will make shooting you down at a severe disadvantage in this arena with tactics and teamwork a pure pleasure. ... but thats not the point of Dingys post; or the train of this thread.

Further, aside from your rather surly remarks online you then take Dingys and others positive comments on this BBS regarding the quality of an enjoyable engagement and use them as an opportunity to twist it into your own diatribe on the assumed lack of your opponents skills and then question their judgement in challenging your connect or possible stick stirring...? Then convey yer sooooooooo damn good that a ladder match will prove it??.. LOL. Sounds ta me like you are and were the one talking trash "Doctor".

No sir.. I don't know (nor care) just what bug crawled up yer bellybutton and made you decide to hop on Dingy & Swagers posts with this ration of crap; but it's uncalled for, useless, and purely outta line. I think yah owe the guys an apology.

Of course; this is just my opinion.. I could be wrong.

Grrr.

That was ME hang.
In the La-5FN outside F16
And yes it was a damned good fight but there was no "whining" at the end. Fact is that I was ticked off you guys made that deflection shot on my tail just as I went for my reversal to try and move in on the stang that was following me. It was good timing and luck on his part as he must have started his dive a good 5 seconds before I started my loop.

The 3 vs 1 comment was simply a statement of facts, it was  because of the odds I died so quickly. At which at least Wardog got the humour and needled me a bit. And yes, when I get a pony in the weeds I _NEED_ blood to keep me happy   considering the amount of work it takes to get you buggers down there.

As I recall you didn't consider it whining at the time, you were replying that you actually loved flying the P51 in the canyons. A comment that had me headed back for you with doc in tow ASAP looking for a little fun.

BTW I don't think Dingy meant me, he mentioned an enemy P51 pilot.

Yer right Sorrow!! 100% Dammo.. my apologies. My original post was edited while you were posting yours... I had some dinner after the first post; replayed some of my recorded sections of the fights last night and realised I had the engagement with you confused with DrYo's. After the edit I found your post.. Most folks will be confused by this.. they'll not see the account of that amazing fight in the canyon.. all of it edited out of the post as it stands now.
(one of the best I've ever been in)

Sir; My aplogies.. again, that was an awsome fight.. and my hats off ta yah.

I beg your forgiveness.... I grovel... I'm not worthy....

Hey, no problem.
Your forgiven just as soon as you repost your take on that fight.
<Very evil grin>

Being in the same squad as Leonid, Botwa and Gie as well as 202854 means I need every reassurance I can get that I am flying the plane well

(in that company I am considered a beginner.. doesn't that scare you a little bit?)

I think it was two night ago, Pang33 was in a Pony and I was in a pony also.

He started with E, but I mangaged to turn inside him.

I looped around and he went nose down, and looped back.

Pretty soon we were in a vertical fight and he dragged me towards a veltro, the veltro had too much E for an Effective pass but I couldn't allow him the easy shot, we sort of had a quick HO and instead of biting for the Veltro, I saved my E and went back after Pang who did a flat turn (I suspect hoping that I was in a fight with the veltro.)

Pang must have been suprised to see me in on him again, cause again his nose went down.  we got in to tighter and tighter spirals, noses heading to the ground, throttles chopping and then sliding full again.

Lotta blackouts and red outs.

I noticed we were getting low, and hauled back on the stick, there was a black out, and when I cleared I rolled over and started an inverted loop.  The next thing I see is Pang making an impression on the ground.

I think in that 10 minute or 30 second fight I didn't even squeeze the trigger.

I got the kill cause I was closest when Pang hit the ground.

Right away in the buffer I see a message from Pang.

"Whoa, my palms are sweaty."

I replied that it was a hell of a fight.

I don't wanna say my SA was better than Pangs, I didn't have the added distraction of someone on my six at the time of the fight.
