A bitter lonely death at the hands of dishonourable and evil men.

May their cause be lost as surely as their souls are now.

Nice, use a soldiers death to make a pathetic political statement...  he deserves more than that, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

How do you know he didn't believe in what he was doing?

You clearly don't, but your opinion isn't shared by all.

PFC Maupin

May God be with your family.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

He very well might have. I can't remember troubling myself with such thoughts while in the service. I did as I was told. When your country says go, you go.

What a nob, you say he was not fighting for a worthy cause, yet when you were in you could not be bothered with such things.

You have no original thoughts now, you just spout the party line, with your blind hate and rage.

You would vote for a flowerpot if it had a D next to it, enjoy your Dilbert life.

what a tool!!

My only point was, Sandman, with all due respect, is that maybe this cause was indeed worth his life. Worth his life, in his own eyes.

It may very well not have been, god knows this war hasn't always been a clear-cut example of good verses evil. Nevertheless, I don't think his personal attitude towards his duty is a topic on which either you or I should speculate.

I salute the guy either way.

I must not have been clear. I'm not speculating on whether he thought the cause was worthy or not. The oath of enlistment is a big deal, IMHO. It is a powerful demonstration of loyalty and trust in the leaders of our country. Once he's made the committment, a soldier does not have the luxury of deciding which fights suit him.

You also said something about a cause worth dying for.

My only point was that maybe this one was just that. Orders are orders, sure, but isn't it possible that his heart, not just his ass, was in it?
