That's not the point.

Statutory rape laws are in place to protect all minors (regardless of sexual status) from adults. The fact that they all enjoy the same protection doesn't mean that they are all necessarily victims, IMHO. Certainly, as the age decreases, the potential for victimization increases.

This thread is an example of what's wrong with America.

To answer an earlier question:

I would have said no when I was 14. I would say no right NOW even if I wasn't married. It's wrong to sleep with a married person regardless of your age.

That thing most people don't seem to have any more? You know, self-control? I still know what it is. I always have.

I don't drink, I never touched drugs, don't "party", don't smoke and won't sleep around. It's all pointless and catches up with you in the end.

One career de-railed, two families drug through the muck in this case. That's what you get when you have no self-control. The teacher should have known better. The kid also should have known better. They're both stupid.

If the kid "brags" about it and becomes a "hero" in his school, it is only because of people like those in this thread who encourage such behavior instead of comdemning it.

It's not there in case of abuse. That's what normal rape charges are for. Statutory has nothing to do with someone saying "no".

30 years for consenting sex? It's not that she will get that much but should she get any if it's true?

No reason at all to treat her differently than you would a male teacher doing the same. What if the 14 yr old was gay? Still ok?

She deserves the worst they can give her. She has damaged at least 3 lives counting her own.

This is true, all though many people choose not to make the distinction.

Pedophelia involves sexual actions with a pre-pubescent child(a child whose sexual functions have not yet matured). You can argue it any way you want, but that's the clinical definition.

Statutory rape is what I would be guilty of if I tagged Hillary Duff.
