200MPH Flakpanzer. On level ground.
« on: October 09, 2000, 11:47:00 PM »
Ok.. I got film of a flak panzer doin about 195-200 mph; on level ground in what appears to be reverse. Closest hill was about 8 miles away.

Before I send the film on to HTC, and trash what I thought was a good pilots name and rep fer hacking or gaming the game; can somebody please explain why or how a Panzer can do 200 mph on level ground; sustained?

If this is a known bug (saw no mention in the bug forum) WHY in hell is it not fixed?? If not fixable; WHY does HTC not disable the damn vehicle so it's not used to game the game?

Seriously cheezy moves; using it like that..

Thanks..

It was me.
Been seeing others do it, and figured out how it was done.

Here's how:

Park a tank on a hill, pointing uphill.
Put it in gear, engine off.
Give it a nudge with the joystick, let it roll.
Start the engine and the darn thing will go about 200 mph even on level ground!

They will accelerate like mad in 1st gear, maintain speed in 6th.
It seems to work on all ground vehicles.

This is a pretty fun bug, cheesy yes but I hope it stays...
Prolly not.

This was implemented on purpose to make up for the time it takes to go up hill.

Thanks,

Oh. Well; hey; I've discovered that if I ground loop the pony to the left three times; when I take off; I have unlimited ammo and can fly mach 2 without any trouble at all; and it accelerates like a top fuel dragster.

Surely; the rest of you won't mind my using the plane this way.. right?

I mean; since I saw somebody else do it; it's ok fer me to game the game; right?

Sheesh.

HTC; yah gotta patch this or disable the affected vehicles. This little tank gimmic truly sucks. This kinda stuff in the sim with just a few guys doin it is enuff to ruin it for everybody. Sure ruins it for me.

Hang,
Sorry I ticked you off so badly.

Have you ever spawned from 56, using the NW spawn point, to the mountain above 27 in the old map?
Tanks could go 200mph there also.  Coasting, but still 200 mph.
Was that a bug?
How many took advantage of it?
Why wasn't that bug fixed?
Because it was a hoot and it was fun from the attackers or defenders point of veiw.
It's also hard as heck to shoot or turn without killing yourself at those speeds, so it's not quite as uber as it sounds.

I am not trying to claim that I am anything more than the total dweeb that we all know I am.  But I am sorry that I ticked you or anyone else off.

One things for sure;
We had better have tank races before any patch comes out!

How about the SEA on Wednesday night?

Hiya Pongo.. LOL; I love those canyon fights.   Took a long time to wear down the corners in those meetings.. I got lucky once in the pony, but the real fun was the first time I ran across yah, when yah killed that goon. I was roaring at my monitor "YOU BASTIDGE!!!!! You killed my GOON!" I kicked the B26 over on it's back and dove down into that hole; nose guns blazing; wings groaning... and gotcha! Great fights; great flyin!! <S!>

Eskimo; yes I remember the hill over 27 from 56. One place in the sim; where we could have 'tank races'. No complaints. All were aware, we all enjoyed. But it was ONE place. I never saw 200mph tanks anyplace else; and by the time they reached the field at 27; they were normal tanks.

This gimmic you guys were using last night can be run anywhere. All thats required is the 'secret password' and wallah; we have 200mph tanks; anyplace, anytime. That sucks.

I get a bad taste in my mouth when I run across defensive moves that look like stick stirring; and the sim doesn't seem to preclude it anymore.. Do you find it 'interesting and satisfying' to waste half yer ammo loadout trying to pick off a guy dancing all over yer FE because he's stick stirring and gaming the game? How do you feel after trying to kill a stick stirrer for 5 min; only to be picked off by his countrymate and the stick stirring bastid gets to run off free?

Feel like running right out and spending another 30 minutes gettin into a killing postion only to find another stick stirring jerk? This crap is bad enuff.. now we got stinkin 200mph tanks all over the place.

You know it's BS; yet yah do it anyway. Why? Is it 'FUN'? Or are yah using it to obtain and unearned, unfair advantage over yer adversary; and kill him with it? You were not 'racing'... I watched you hose two planes outta the sky while running across the terrain in reverse at 200mph. Gaming the Game. It sucks.

I sure hope HTC fixes it. Soon.

All this time I've been driving 1/2 hour to get to a base and I could have gotten there in 5 min?!

DOH!

Think I will still drive 1/2 hour.

Ahhh, nice. Now I understand how the Flak I saw last night could get to the field I was attacking with AXE in a few seconds. Thanks a lot guys for gaming this game ....

Is it just me, or does anyone else wanna do the "Evil Kanevil"?

Hang, this is an entirely diffrent matter then a Mach 2 pony.  The vehicles suffer terribly from long ranges to fights.  Besides, you know how easy it'd be to flip one of those bad boys?

I'm gonna set up a competition tonight.  Gonna go and launch off a cliff, and see how deep into enemy territory I can go before reaching Terra Firma

I told Hitech about this about a month and a half ago. I also told him that I had film opf myself doing this. He told it was not a bug that he couldnt duplicate it. I thought it was just me that could do it. I did it in reverse the other night on accident. I spawned i believe it was nw of 33. It puts you directly on a slope i put it into reverse instead of first then proceeded to blast into the mountain directly behind 33 at aprox 200 mph! I believe disco was there and saw it. I was going to list it in the bug section of the forum but HT said he couldnt dupicate it so i didnt.

Rebel, but it can totally ruin captures/totally dominate catures, with vehicles racing in.

Imagine yer in a 190A8, you spend all your ammo taking vh and ack down. Then you drop your egg on one of the panzers that upped before vh was dead. Your squad mates do the same, all flak ded.

So, these guys race in a 200mph - faster than you can rtb, refuel, return.

Totally useless to bust panzers and flak if people start dweebing it out - and believe me, they will.

I'm just afraid this will make captures even harder, unless you dweeb out and 200mph storm a base.

Ok then, give me a 6,000fpm climbing C.205 to make up for the time she takes to go up and reach those strato-buffs at 35K

LOL
