Grizz, no insult intended, but what is with your signature?  Do you have an inordinate amount of problems that make it easier just to post the whole damn thing everytime you speak, or what?

Don't get me wrong, I go even geekier and have a gif, but it ain't my sig.  yours is bigger than WWIIOL forum sigs, and that is just ugly.

If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain
Wondering which of the buggers to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.

Well I'll be damned. I'm not sure because of your accent, but I can swear you called me out! Well, how about that! Ol' grizzly being called out for the first time ever. And Slo is the one who done it.

So help me out here... you want to meet me in the MA so you can pretend to kill me with a make believe airplane, and then you'll be a man. And I'm supposed to be scared of getting killed, even though I've been killed a bazillion times already?

Trembling in my boots, I am.

Oops... I'm sorry. I used that signature for the AH2 beta. I had forgotten to turn off the signature option, and I had the show signatures disabled so I didn't realize it was being posted. It should all be gone now.

Heya DOK,

Always had a great time flying in your scenerios.  Truely good times, of course running them was probably less of a good time. In any event they were greatly appreciated and a lot of fun.

Hi Drex.

I just wanted to go on record as being somebody who told Bryan Walker in many forums and wherever I could that Confirmed Kill was a pipe dream, and that it would never see the light of day. It's not often I am on the right side of history. I don't want to equate the revised CK with TAS, clearly CK was a real game being worked on - but it never did get released.

Since we seem to be digging up ghosts here...

Hello All!

Confirmed Kill
by Leonard (Viking1) Hjalmarson

Yes, Virginia, 1997 will be THE year of the flight simulation, and the Internet
is one of the main vehicles that will make this true. There are TWO incredible
pieces of simulation in the works for all those WB and AW fans, and for others
who have avoided that particular pursuit because "suspension of disbelief" in
the form of great graphics had not yet arrived. TAS is one, and Confirmed Kill
by Eidos International will be the other....
Eidos International is a new comer on the map this year, and what a year they
are having! With the introduction of TombRaider, and two more inredible
simulations in the works, they are certainly making a splash in the simulation
world!
Eidos is currently working on three major projects: Flying Nightmares II,
Flying Nightmares Commandant, and Confirmed Kill. Bryan Walker is heading up the
development for these military simulations, and Bryan has the background to see
that its done right, with a number of years piloting AH64 Apaches under his
belt.
Flying Nightmares: Commandant looks like an incredible blend of strategy and
simulation in a virtual battlefield. Confirmed Kill, on the other hand, is
looking to make a major dent in the multi-player world previously dominated by
Air Warrior and WarBirds. From what I have seen and heard to date, Tactical Aero
Squadron will be the only competitor worthy of note with the coming release of
CK.
A little history is in order. This sim has been on the drawing board even since
the ICI/Domark split. ICI launched Warbirds and Domark (now Eidos) kept the CK
name and began working on an entirely new sim. Latest estimates for release
place CK somewhere in February.
The Simulation
The largest delay for CK has been the construction of flight models. Modelling
in CK will surpass anything seen to date, possibly excluding TAS which is also
in beta. More than 450 parameters, including gunnery and damage models, must be
individually entered for each aircraft. From weights and dimensions, to
measurements of thrust lines, and even prop dimensions... all this information
goes into making a state of the art on-line simulation.
At the moment, CK will have thirteen airframes available on release. Nine more
will be added later. Altogether twenty-seven ac will be modelled, eventually
including five Soviet ac such as the La-7.
Initial aircraft include the P51D Mustang, F6F3/5 Hellcat, Spitfire MK .V/IX,
F4F Wildcat, F4U-1D Corsair and the P38J Lightning. Allied ac to be added later
include the P51H, P47N Thunderbolt, Spitfire MK.XVI, SBD Dauntless and TBM
Avenger.
Initial German aircraft include the Bf 109G/K, JU-87G2 Stuka, FW 190A5 and FW
190D9. Japanese aircraft will be limited initially to the A6M5 Zero, followed
later by the Ki-84 Frank, Kate and Val. Initial Russian aircraft will include
the IL-10 Sturmovik and LA-5/7, followed later by the Yak 3/9.
No more milling around an area wondering what to do, scenarios will be designed
around clear-cut objectives. The mission planner is being designed to allow the
player to design and save their own created scenarios, and the planner will
allow a high degree of tactical planning and organization. Dedicated squadron
areas will enhance the comaraderie.

Player Interface and Mission Planner

Arranging flights should be a simple matter, even for newcomers. A Player Lobby
has been developed which will allow players to meet and sort allies and
opponents by Name, Squadron, Rank, and Connection quality. Players will be able
to choose from dozens of historically accurate and play balanced scenarios.
As can be seen from the screen shots, (taken from a beta running under
Rendition acceleration) suspension of disbelief has jumped up a few notches.
When you are spiralling groundward, you may forget you are only flying your PC.
And with support for major 3d hardware included, frame rate issues at high
resolutions will no longer nag.
Following the current trends, CK will come with the standard virtual cockpit.
Correctly implemented, this is a great addition to Situational Awareness. A
padlock mode that realistically mirrors the human limitations of neck strain
should also be included.
As for difficulty, flight models, damage, models, gunnery models, red
outs/blackouts, sun blind spots, mid-air collisions, ammunition loads, and fuel
consumption are just a few of the parameters that can be adjusted for each
scenario. (The scoring system makes adjustments for the difficulty settings, so
killing everything in sight with all the settings on their easiest level won't
make anyone King...)
To my delight, much of Cks design is dedicated to attack aircraft, so surface
units will have realistic behaviors, including self-defense and avoidance
tactics! Not only does this add an entirely new dimension for a sim, it also
contributes to realism. When you are also dealing with moving and offensive
ground targets, you are in an environment that keeps you moving!

Viva la Difference!

CK plans a major departure from the Warbirds/AW environment. Players will be
required to agree on terms of engagement before the fight begins. In Warbirds or
AW, one was always at the mercy of anyone who had simply started flying before
you and had the energy/alt advantage.
Not only will such changes mean that skill will count for more, it will mean
less counting from the back account too! Furthermore, with CK available on the
Total Entertainment Network for a flat monthly fee of $30 for unlimited air
time, it promises to be a great addition to the simulation world! Later in the
year a single player version will also appear....

I had forgotten how much of a fit Voss threw back then when Robey debunked him. He really threw a tantrum. He starts screaming "it's none of your business" like a little freak. You can see the seams coming off and the dreamworld beginning to explode. It kind of reminds me of the end of "Identity" where John Cusack starts screaming just as he realizes he's the Fester-esque killer.

: Nos, his claims have been disproven beyond a reasonable doubt. As

BULLHOCKEY!!!!

pips, R.Price, et al,

If you are looking for confirmation, or denial, go to hell, stop reading
now, and accept your current opinion as *truth*. I don't lie. That should
be simple enough, even for you twits.

I don't appreciate the general witchhunt you guys have created in
response to letters sent just a month ago. Not even a month ago. To LIE and
pat each other on the back for a "good kill" after a few of you got
together and gossiped and rumorized, etc. is just totally unlike anything
an Air Force Officer would do. Navy pukes maybe, but not Air Force.
Furthermore, to perpetuate this *crap* on the usenet is something I would
expect of idiotic brats, not airmen.

To begin with, this all began after a review I did with Michael and *name
withheld* for our "soon to be released" game. Michael slipped and said
something "off the record" which I then corrected and asked *name withheld*
to ignore. He agreed. Three months passed before Robey Price began looking
into things which are none of his business. Got that Robey? It's NONE OF
YOUR BUSINESS! You, and you alone, are responsible for the escalation of
this crap. I don't blame you (too much) though. It must be pretty boring
hauling cattle for a living. Had I NOT fallen ill at such a poorly timed
occasion I would have gotten back to you. I believe your letter deserved
more then a perfunctory (look it up) note which is all I have had time for.
Yes, I answered others. No, they were short notes and did not involve
calling up people in far away places to confirm something for you CHILDREN!
BTW, your note was dated May 10, 1997. Not March 10, which some idiots are
trying to convince us all of. I am not so easily fooled, so get used to it.
Yes, pips, I quess that includes you.
THEN! Of all the nerve! You send a young man into a den of lions to
obtain information for your kangaroo court! Do you really lack
entertainment to this degree? Just what the hell did you expect him to come
back with? Then I get all these psychopathic ravings in my email. "Oneman
and Voss are the same guy", and "I called the University." You're a real
loser Robey! I mean that! Even the liberal press of today has more couth
then to print such rubbish before they CAREFULLY review the facts.
Do I owe you an explanation? Hell no! Am I going to give you one? In a
pigs eye!
I never said anything like what you are implying (hell, outright stating)
on the BBS, on WB, or even in AW. If you think I did, or any of your
friends, you need to get off the cold medicine and rejoin the real world.
Now, I wonder why Paul "Voss" Hinds is SO PISSEY? Well, you have
obviously made an outright attempt to thwart my efforts in creating a bona
fide flight simulation. You have made Michael so nervous he is withdrawing
from our partnership. You have caused the closing of our BBS, and now my
best development team element is so upset he's withdrawn from the team. Now
my squad has even asked for my resignation! Thanks "skeptical *******" (his
words)! Could I sue you? YES! Am I going to? I don't think it's necessary.
Do I want you on the beta team? I think you know the answer; all of you.
The next time you hear something on a VIRTUAL GAME, take it for the
virtual crap it is. You never know who is flying that rig over there. I
know ICI doesn't like more then one person flying a single account. So
fornicating what! If they want to keep me off the game, that's their loss.
I expect to lose quite a bit of ground with all the bull splatter you've
stirred up. I appreciate it, I really do.
Now, if you don't mind, I am going to have to work VERY hard to come up
with the cash to finance the completion of this game. The extra work load
is something you helped to perpetuate. I appreciate all the information you
forwarded regarding fields of the era, but that does not give you the right
to make demands upon me. I offered "Tactical Aero Squadron" up for FREE
testing with a FREE discussion board. I did not deserve the accusations
that you forced upon all of us, and I do not need your crap now, nor in the
future.
I know you have delighted in creating havoc and mayhem on the Internet.
You went so far as to warn Michael and Bill not to give me any money. You
probably don't know that I gave Michael 50% of Pro-Line just for discussing
ideas and helping to create a playable game. I never asked Bill for
anything. Nothing. (In all fairness Michael was nice enough to furnish a
development computer)
So! Where's your scandal? In your head *******! Vent it for us!
Don't bother sending me email in the future. It'll get sent to the
recycle bin before it ever gets here. I promise you.
Now, I am off to recuperate my health. I don't expect there will be much
of a test group left when I get back (I hope in three weeks). I will inform
everyone via the web site when TAS is ready (we have a demo coming together
too). If Michael really does withdraw from our partnership it may take a
little longer, as that would require a visit to Austin to finalize
legalities. Maybe longer then anyone will care to wait.
Does the sun rise and set around your ass? I think not!

  THANKS ROBEY!

Paul "Voss" Hinds
