Scholz  re: respect

Our system worked, what part of " worked" dont you understand? What did it take to long? ok how many Americans should be shot for that?

These cowards where given more and treated better than some middle class people in europe. They had better dental than i do.

I tell you this If you are so blind that you think gitmo is same as concentration camp Then I as 1 American dont want or need your respect.
Still cant get over how many europeans say the things they do after europes history. Even now europe is going back to the 1st empire days and you think all is going to be hunky dorey. And lol you all are following france and germany talk about stupid.

The Geneva Convention has been discussed a lot on this bbs, and I get tiered of quoting it. You do not need to have a uniform to be protected by the GC. You do not have to be part of a government army to be protected by the GC. Mercenaries, partisans, guerrillas and even civilians who take up arms against an invading army are legal combatants under the GC.

Totally false statement.  "Unconventional" combatants are only covered by the Geneva Convention IF they declare themselves by anouncing their intention to fight to the offending goverment AND are wearing some sort of uniform which they have disclosed.  It could be as simply as the same colored bandana wrapped around their arm.  It has to be something recognizable ,distinct, AND declared.

Scholz is right on his last post to you,but dont read it to fast as gitmo happened because we were invaded by non military insurgents not the other way around. they are not covered by g.c.

Scholz.    give me a break, if you dont understand ask me and I will try to clear it up . It is clear to me. How about answering me with out looking at google,do you know what the 1st empire is.If you dont than you cant honestly say I dont know what I am talking about . also nothing wrong with not knowing. Can you prove to me you all are not following france and germany?

Nope, civilians can take up arms against an invading army and be protected by the GC.

No they can't.  They are not LEGAL combatants.  Picking up arms places them in a Combatant status BUT does NOT afford them special protection as a soldier under the Geneva Convention.

Now they can declare they are "such and Such" Militia AND declare their uniform.  They have to be in UNIFORM before, during and after any combat occurs to be considered LEGAL combatants and entitled to POW status.  Again that uniform can be as simple as an armband, as long as it is visible.

Here is the Geneva Convention so you can read it.

http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/Human_Rights/geneva1.html

Please feel free to point out the passage where civilians who take up arms are protected by anything special?  They in fact are protected, AS are ALL Civilians.  They are just civilians who have committed crimes and can be detained and tried.

What is being confused is the fact that EVEYONE is covered under the Geneva Convention.  There is NO such thing as not having status.  Now that status can change from a protected civilian to a POW to a spy after a trial.  Once that trial is legally conducted and it rules you can be executed under it.  Civilians taking up arms receive NO special status.

Article 4 covers the detention of civilians in "protected" status.

That sentence has just as much bearing as the one you posted.

I can't believe I've been so busy as to miss the civil wars,
death squads and child prostitutes.  I guess working a full time
job makes it easy to miss those kinda things.

Maybe you should duck next time a low bridge comes around.

Pampers?

Seriously, the one thing I have problems with is the wastefulness that is common in American culture. When did it become cool that EVERYTHING must be disposable? I'm no tree hugger, but I find it disgusting that I get at least 3 trees a year in my mail box (junk mail). Three trees I move from my mail box to my plastic garbage bag to a land fill to satisfy some ******* who sent in for a get rich scheme he saw on an infomerical.

I mean how friggin hard is it to rinse out a diaper?
It's just a pet peave of mine. I just find the amount of garbage the average American creates, naueseating.

Edit - I see the colorful word for donkey is forbidden and "friggen" isn't - go figure.
