Television was invented by a Russian. Check for "Zvorykin" in your books.

Lightbulbs - indeed invented by Edison. Electric lighting was invented by (surprise!) a Russian. Check for "Yablochkov" and his electric candles.

As for America - I'll say blues music (George Gershwin) and a machine gun. Sorry, Hiram Maxim invented a lightbulb and a flying machine too... :aok

The first light bulb:

Quote
In 1860, an English physicist and electrician, Sir Joseph Wilson Swan, produced his first experimental light bulb using carbonized paper as a filament. Unfortunately, Swan didn't have a strong enough vacuum or sufficiently powerful batteries and his prototype didn't achieve complete incandescence, so he turned his attentions to other pursuits.
a
Fifteen years later, in 1875, Swan returned to consider the problem of the light bulb and, with the aid of a better vacuum and a carbonized thread as a filament (the same material Edison eventually decided upon), he successfully demonstrated a true incandescent bulb in 1878 (a year earlier than Edison). Furthermore, in 1880, Swan gave the world's first large-scale public exhibition of electric lamps at Newcastle, England.

And TV was not invented by a Russian. Television was the result of many different inventers over a period of about 35 years. I didn't feel like googleing it, but I think a German made the first practicle television system.

come on now......tv invented by many different inventors over a period of time?

Why...that's just crazy talk!

TV was invented by Al Gore, as we all should know. Al Gore also invented the United States, the internet, 4 tined forks, potatoes,
spelling bees, honey bees, webonics, condoms, moon walks (both kinds), ding dongs and twinkies, and so many other useful things that I could go on and on and on........and on.

So, the answer to the question: "what did the US give us"?

Why, the answer is very clear:  AL GORE!

He is a pillar of humanity and without him we would all be living in the dark ages. It may interest you to know, that there really was a King Arthur as well. He was a direct descendant of....you guessed it......AL GORE!

So in a way, he even invented Britain.

Humour!  It's what's for breakfast!
