I have an AthlonXP 1800+, 512mb of RAM and a GeForce Ti4600.

If I can swing it, I'm upgrading this year.

Aiming for a Athlon 64 3500 or 3800 939 socket (I'd like an Athlon 64 FX-53 but there is no way I can afford it), 1024mb of RAM and a GeForce 6800 of some sort.

Better equipment makes a big difference

A large monitor with advanced graphics card makes a big difference.

A good stick with enough buttons or switches to manually trim makes a big difference.

Rudder pedals make a big difference.

Don't kid yourselves.

In a dogfight between similarly skilled and experienced players, the one who has more aircraft controls at hand will out manuveur the other.  The equal player with less on hand controls has fewer options.

It doesnt make any difference.
If the machine is enough to play the game it doesnt make any difference. its the man. but, the MS FF Twisty stick is one of the best joysticks ever made. Increadably accurate and predictable. Lots of the most dangerous guys in the game have used it for years. Too bad it went out of production.
