ROOK RJO stalled out tonight
« on: August 13, 2004, 10:28:09 PM »
Congrats !

Rook Joint Ops stalled tonight. We only had a modest 30 player superiority over the country with the least numbers - but that was enough to kick in the ENY over 6 on several occasions which caused us to not be able to up a critical plane. No, I'm not talking about the P51-D...

We couldn't defend our HQ from high level bombers because we couldn't up 163s or 262s from the base to intercept. Numbers and planes didn't cause us to lose radar. The 163 being 5 ENY caused us to lose radar (with no exception being made for that particular defensive ride).

Also, collision is now an offensive weapon again. I can be rammed successfully by a defender who has no shooting skills but can end my flight before arriving at target. At least make it so that two planes who collide both die. A squaddie got rammed and lost a wing but the rammer flew on with no apparent damage.

Yawn... I am underwhelmed.

Ummm I gloated a bit about rooks not having DAR
because 1/2 the time knights have no DAR.

But after considering it a bit.....

They should let yall have the 163 for HQ defence no matter how
skewed the numbers are. Maybe not the 262, its got to long a range and its used for more than HQ defence.
But you SHOULD be able to mount a HQ defence.

I bet HTC will change this as they said they were reviewing
it after a few days....

Thanks for a reasoned response, X2Lee. It's obvious that automatic HQ destruction is not what was intended by the latest patch...

I see the point about the g10, but the 163 is only available at one base as it is.... I think this should be the plane of exception due to that reason.  90% of the time it only has one function and that is HQ defence, since it is used so little, I don't think it should apply to this limiting thing that we have now to appease those who threatened to take their ball and go home.

:D

P.S.  Sorry, its defense, not defence... not sure what is wrong with me tonight.  =)

I think the 163 should be available at all times. Maybe they can be removed from the restrictions for HQ defense only.
What needs to be stopped is the dweebs hotpadding them to other fields.

I find nothing "dweeby"  in hotpadding a 163 to another field. Infact it does reguire some skill. It doesn't take very much time either.

I'm proud to say that I do it from time to time.:D

Edit: And yes, the Me-163 should be excluded from the list of disabled planes.

Considering 163 had very specific and rare fuel requirements they should not be able to be hotpadded at any field apart form their home one.

It used to be easy to do in AH because you could taxi on the belly skid. In AH2 it's no longer possible. In AH2 you must not drop the gear after take off and land on it. However you cannot exceed 330 IAS without breaking the gear, this is no problem on ferry flights, but in combat it's hard to keep under that speed. The bonus side of AH2 in this issue is that the 163 has wheel brake enabled(obviously a bug)!
