Let's resume the stealing-kill thing.....
Seems this is  (on this BBS) a quite legal behavior...maybe on the edge of fairness.

As in real life there's people who shows a certain class, elegance in everything they do, others  who take advantage of every opportunity to steal the home silverware.......

Its just a matter of class........;)

Im really a noob here.. just started playing this week (though Ive played for 2 weeks 2 years ago and for 2 weeks 1 year ago).

I really hate kill stealing like that. Its really anoying when I as a new pilot finally manage to pop someone out of the sky to just see others swoop in and cherry pick it.

Though I my self have a hard time seeing if a plane is going down or if its still kicking. Sometimes fit a plane say has its tail shot of and going down it aint easy to see if its going down or just diving in a evasive manouver.

So mistakes can happen until I get used to identifying targets better.

What puzzles me though is that vets actually do this on purpous. I dont mind the accidental ones as mistakes happen and identification can be hard at times, but intentional kill stealing just sucks arse.

For new players this can be very disencouraging. Basicly new players need to get kills in their first 2 trial weeks or they wount subscribe to the game.

For my self its just frustrating but I do know how to fly a plane and how to get kills, since I have played alot of other ww2 games. But for true noobs it must be just frustrating to point of no return.

Tail or elevators shot off = nose pointing up as plane goes down.

Plane is history. Pilot has 2 options: Ride it down (possibly pulling the trigger for a despiration kill) or hit the silk.

Half wing or wing shot off generally means the plane either stops making evasive moves altogether and suddenly enters a slowly increasing bank to the damaged wing side or it immediately rolls into the missing wing (if the pilot releases control or rolls it that way) and the nose increases it's declination until impact.

With a half wing shot off the pilot has a chance to make it back to base but not much of one in continuing a fight. Fair game .... finish him.

No wing is kinda like the options about having no tail with even less chance of scoring hits out of despiration. Plane and pilot are finished.

Both wings shot off means the plane will suddenly have a very good rollrate as it lawndarts.

Options same as lost tail or missing wing with even less chance of a despiration hit on someone (then again, all three instances require the cooperation of someone flying in front of your guns. Plane and pilot are finished.

Pilot wound means what otherwise looks like a perfectly good plane will occasionally fly straight and level at a constant speed while the pilot passes out.

Pilot may make it back. Pilot may wake up and find himself in position to get a solution and get a kill. Fair gaime ... finish him off.

Wings shot of is really easy to see by looking at the shape of the plane.

The shot of tail is a bit harder. (by just viewing the model). From distance for an untrained eye it can be hard to tell if a plane is diving and pulling moves or flying into the ground backwards spinning.

What I do though is this.

1. Im on the tail of an enemy and have other team mates on the same target as well. I shoot till its dead. I dont back off.

2. Im comming into a fight where others are already engaging. If the plane is diving I get on the tail but dont engage untill I see the enemy pull up. If he pulls up I engage.

As I said I do my best to not steal kills but sometimes it happens by mistake because Im still a noob in lot of situations and I know just how frustrating it is.

Also what I as a noob would appriciate is pilots using voice coms more. Call it if the plane is going down.

This way I can just pick another target and engage it instead.

I can usually tell (I say "usually" but I'd like to think "always") if a plane is falling backwards without it's tail or diving just as easily as I can make out a missing wing. And I've seen guys call out a kill when all they've done is knock off someone's flap or something (and I've had that "dead" plane come around and get me when I broke off). So yeah, there's times when you gotta use your judgement and observation skills. Sometimes players DO make mistakes and it's cool when they own up to it. Of course, after three or four times in a row it gets kinda suspicious, heh. But, like I said, wingless or tail-less planes are pretty easy for me to ID.

p.s. A burning plane doesn't neccesarily mean it's no longer a threat, either.

Depends on if one has played flight sims before or not.

On my first visit 2 years ago it took me like a week or so to get the first kill, on my 2nd visit a year ago I got kills the first night and on this stay it took me till the 2nd day.

But for a true noob Id say 1-2 months sounds about normal. Still its important to not make it worse for the noobs by stealing kills and beeing rude over com channels.

Games with very high learning curves usually have a quite bad noob retention rate. Its important to not make this worse.

not bashing you SirLoin but I thought that is why we have no open channel now? as in Channel 1 is gone............

how does it pertain to this thread?

as for kill stealing it will always happen..but the ones that happen mistakenly are usually announced on Range Vox or country channel and the guy apologizes.these are the class act flyers.......these are the type you should want to fly with........as for the others that give back foul words or offer no apology, let it go why lower yourself to their level of flying / skill.......they will one day wonder why they can't get any help when they truely need it then they will realize if they had not been acting like a kill scoring mongrel they would be enjoying the game much more and would have countrymen to come get them out of a bad situation!

errrr... check the date of that post.  as for the relevancy...  i guess it's more related to the "vulgarity" aspect of this thread than to the kill stealer.
