An impossible argument!
If you are old enough to remember Y.A. Tittle, kneeling in the superdome, helmet off, blood running down his face. Or Johnny U. getting it done while being mugged, three step rule my prettythang, chuck and duck or die, the days when wide outs seldom both caught passes and played an entire game.
The days before don't touch the QB, don't touch the Wide outs, no spearing, head slaps ruled, no face guards. those old timers played 10 or 12 game seasons and still rank in the top 20 or so.
How many running backs gain a thousand yards in ten games? Heck with 16 games there is still only half a dozen or so a year that do it.
Don't get me wrong I love football and many of the new rules make it more enjoyable. But you just can not compare the modern player with past greats.
Sorry, but if Unites played under todays rules, (we'll never know) but I'll bet his stats would be further ahead of any other QB than Rice's receiving stats are beyond any other receiver.
Just my opinion I could be wrong.
