Favre is definately one of the best ever, and a class act. Only time I'm not rooting for him is against the Eagles.

I remember when Montana was out of action because of a bad back, in the late eighties I think. Steve Young came in and filled in for the 49ers like Joe never existed. Then Joe came back and won a few Super Bowls.

Montana, Young, Farve .... three best QB's ever IMHO. In that order

What about Brady? He seems to be pretty good.

Young, Favre, McNabb, blah, blah, blah. What about Aikman? 3 rings are hard to argue with.
But you give me 1 QB in his prime, for 1 game, for all the marbles...
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Yeah, if you really needed to win the game.... Montana. You could probably say the same thing about Bradshaw and Staubach. You can find better stats here or there, but the were consistantly good to brilliant when they needed to be consistant, particularly in the last two minutes of a game.

Montana's drive against Cincy to win the Super Bowl put him over the top.  Joe Montana was the best QB I ever saw.

The most amazing thing I've ever witnessed live was the Lions / Chiefs Thanksgiving Day game in 1996.

Terry Fair returned the KO to the 30.  1st touch, Barry Sander's busted it for 70 yards.  When he reached the Chief's goal line a "flag" was thrown, backed it up 10 for holding.  Next touch, Barry Sander's busted it for a 80 yard TD run.  It was dead silent in the Silverdome for about 5 seconds.  The Lions lost the game but I hope I never forget that series.

When Madden used to say that Farve loved the game I used to hope that he would get sacked so I could holler at the screen"Still loving the game Brett!". But I have come to accept maddens anoying voice saying that and now I just nod.  He is the best sports figure of his generation. When he said last night he was in his 3rd year befor he found out what a nickel defense was I thought it was priceless. When they said how many of his QB coaches are now head coaches it was increadable.
Thank god for the sallary cap that keeps that team competitive year after year.

They should march that bastard to Canton right now and get it over with.

One of the best moments in NFL was when he threw that dead duck up for grabs in the playoffs for an INT. Then cried about it after words, YOUR FAULT YOU LOST LOSER.

I lost all respect for him when he TOOK A DIVE so a new sack record could be set.  Way to play hard for your team mates you BUM.

An impossible argument!
If you are old enough to remember Y.A. Tittle, kneeling in the superdome, helmet off, blood running down his face. Or Johnny U. getting it done while being mugged, three step rule my prettythang, chuck and duck or die, the days when wide outs seldom both caught passes and played an entire game.

The days before don't touch the QB, don't touch the Wide outs, no spearing, head slaps ruled, no face guards.  those old timers played 10 or 12 game seasons and still rank in the top 20 or so.

How many running backs gain a thousand yards in ten games? Heck with 16 games there is still only half a dozen or so a year that do it.

Don't get me wrong I love football and many of the new rules make it more enjoyable.  But you just can not compare the modern player with past greats.

Sorry, but if Unites played under todays rules, (we'll never know) but I'll bet his stats would be further ahead of any other QB than Rice's receiving stats are beyond any other receiver.

Just my opinion I could be wrong.

Best QB of all time? Hard to say really with the likes of Marino, Montana, Young, Bradshaw, Staubach, Elway etc etc.
