Its just odd to me , does he not read his own posts? Maybe he just doesnt perceive what he writes and the way he responds to be insulting and condescending. That might make sense if he is really as arrogand as he comes across here..

Grun,
Bah, enough. We're just stating the obvious...looking like a pigpile.

Here's going off topic.... How's your photography coming along? You plan on getting a new lens? Also did you see the prices on Sandisk's UltraII CF cards? $184.00 for a 2GB card!!

I think Dell even had them for $163.00.. :)

I just bought some Cokin ND Graduated filters and want to get to use them soon. The D70 blows higlights a lot so sunsets were very challenging to expose unless I just wanted shilloutes of the landscape.

No new lenses for me, just my kit lens, the 70-300, and the 50 1.8..

Did you get your 20D yet?

I tried Dell but they were out of them. Canceled my order and went with B&H (they're my main dealer).

Try shooting in NEF mode instead of JPEG. You can change exposure and white balance w/out affecting negatively your image (added noise, artifacts, etc).
If you have a tripod, you can shoot two shots of the same scene. Expose one for the highlight details, the second for the shadow details. You can then use this program :
http://www.fredmiranda.com/shopping/DRI
...to combine the best of both images to create a single image with even better dynamic range of even the best film shot. If you haven't got it yet, get Photoshop CS. It is all that! If too pricey, use Photoshop Elements 2.0 as the linked software will work in Elements also.

Oh yeah, got my 20D :D  With my UltraII card, saw 5fps for 39 frames (varies depending on the settings and the shot) in Hires JPEG. RAW is stuck at 6 fps though (The 10D has 9 fps RAW capability), although the processing speed is blazing! Love having the 100 ISO 1/8000th shutter speed.

Despite all the capabilities of the 20D, I'd still recommend the D70 for those starting in DSLR photography. Very good performance for the money. It's kit lens is so good that Canon had to make a new one for the 20D ;)  (the 18-55mm kit lens sucks).

CS would be nice but too expensive for now, but I think I will get it next year.

I have an old photoshop (version 5.5)  I wonder how much they have added since then?  Would elements be an upgrade on this version when it comes to digital photo editing - beyond being able to use this double exposure program you linked?

CS has two things going for it:
Camera RAW
Upsizing of images cleanly (without jaggies and noise-although it will get "softer").
Elements is a lean, dumbed down version of Photoshop.
Go to Adobe and try out both Elements 2.0 (ver 3.0 due out soon) and Photoshop CS. Free 30 day trial I think. You can decide which is better for you.
BTW, to upsize in CS:
Use the percentage function, use 110% @ both vert/horiz., Bicubic Smoother. Keep repeating until you get the size you want. Warning though as I upsized 300dpi to 40"x60", ran about 1.7GB size.

Heck it's late. Goodnight!

That was hortlunds first reponse in the thread, and now he complains of personal attacks as problems in other peoples arguments.  Very strange..  Amnesia or arrogance?

I think you will notice in that post that I was not directing it at anyone in particular...yet you felt like it was aimed at you.

Well...if the shoe fits...

Amazing hortlund, especially after you just  wrote a  "I'm the poor victim here" kind of post..

But no I didnt feel it was aimed at me and I certainly didnt respond that way to your post the other day...

Not that it really matters, you are right that post wasnt about any other person - it was about you and showing who you are and how poorly you argue...

And this latest post is the same, you just cant stop the arrogant insults can you?

Grunherz loving American hamburgers, what else would anyone debate about?

Personally, I think he loves the Hot Rocks burger from Fuddruckers.

Fuddruckers is pretty damn good.. :)

And Flyboy I think the discussion was a lot about Hortlund's theory that Iran could nuke Israel and get away with it without like retaliation from Israel or the usa.
