What effect will these have on gameplay?

The gameplay will stay dead till the path of least resistance isn't the tactic of choice by the majority.  New planes mean new toys and less bitterness and monotony for those so inclined.

i.e. welcome to society.
Make a squad of 10 or so and kiss your innocence goobye, the only way you'll survive the hordes without a jet or flying in the vacuum around them is mass seal-clubbing efficiency.

Then we can all play in 1 big arena (all of us exept the 20 that fly in the CT), on huge maps. I understand that HTC is a company, & companies need to profit. But I honestly feel like this game, and the games before it were much more fun for me when there wasnt such a high player  base.

Many people have given good examples of why this circumstance exists. All I can say is that, gameplay seems to be directly connected to the player base. The higher the player base, the less skill/effort the players seem to display.

I think it would be a smart idea to work on establishing a way to encourage our current players to "fly the game" instead of "game the game", before we invite more problems in.

IMO, if we get another huge wave of Air Quake mentality players, it will completely ruin the game for me, and likely many others (So long Lupo).

What a narrow view!!!! Congrats Anton for being able to see through a keyhole with both eyes simultaneously.  We need more players pure and simple.  HTC needs to make a profit and the only way to do that is by splattering Mud on the wall and working with the mud that sticks.  Occasionally more mud has to be splattered.  I hope HTC runs plenty of adds and I hope the response is overwhelming.  I hope it maxes the servers.

Storch, I thought Anton was perfectly clear. Sure, more players will be a good thing in the long run, but what is bad is that the new masses tend to be pork-n-auger guys, for the reasons Moot said (path of least resistance). From what I've seen of you, you're a CT guy. I remember seeing you in there a lot. The CT is a lot different - better pilots IMO, and people are much more courteous, except people like.... well, email me for a list. ;)

What Anton describes is an MA problem.

Anton - sorry if I pre-empted you.

Why do you people think HT isn't making a profit now? I'm sure
he is making a good one, he'ld just like more. :)

Have that many players canceled their accounts? I don't think so.

Does HT want to have a better menu to eat from? Of course, we
all do. :D

Anton has some valid points too.

ie players in masses are stupid.  Fortunately for them it's HTC's fault.
Endlessly building foolproof safeguards isn'tt feasible, in a short length, they're'd be more idiot-proofing than game code.

Anton why don't you go to Grapevine, or ask for 15min on the phone and explain your better business plan to HTC?

Well, I stated my position. I was able to do it without flaming or insulting anyone. :)

I have no interest in trying to persuade the best of the HiTech brown nosers into following logic.

So make yer ads, but I sure hope the Ad campaign is delivered to potential PLAYERS, we already have MORE than our fill of GAMERS!
If you don't know the difference between a player & a gamer, save yerself some keystokes & just move along quietly.

Beetle,  I was sleeping- :D

Moot, They wouldn't listen to me, I am from the school of thought where if squelch is OK, then perma-squelch is perma-OK.

For the record, I have never suggested a player cap. Not in this thread, not in any other thread, not on vox, not anywhere.

ya know ive only ever seen one commercial, since playing ah.

i live on the southern east coast and the commercial was shown during ethier a history channel ww2 documentary or a discovery wings show, i cant remember wich channel it was but it only comes on here when that particular documentary comes on...need more advertiseing out here

i show co-workers all the time clips, video, and pictures.. so far ive been only able to get a small hand full of people interested.

a little more advertiseing would definately attract more players.

i never see ah in computer gameing magazine's neither.
