lets not getr ahead of ourselves but... the repulican boosters are looking cocky and the democrats are getting defensive... kerrie could pull it out but ohio will end it for him if he loses there. At this point... I would rather be in Bush's shoes.

It is VERY close tho.

I agree, it looks like it is going to be a long night. Current trends are showing Bush ending up with about 275.

My projection is the courts will be flooded with lawyers before dawn.

Sadly, I think this does not bode well for the nation. I'm thinking this could be worse than 2000, and that the nation will be more divided than ever.

If Bush wins by a couple hundred thou in Ohio... I don't think there will be much in the way of court battles.

Hmmm - not looking like I thought it would - over - probably but not for sure - there's those absentee ballots in Florida. I dunno - life used to be simpler. But If I were Bush I'd feel a lot better tonight than I felt this afternoon.

I'd bet Bush wins Ohio by less than his current lead of 130K, more like around 50K or less.

With the possible lawsuits in Ohio and Florida, that makes 47 electoral votes up for grabs.

Yup, I was hoping this would be settled tonigt, but its definitely going to court. Well we can still hope - either way please let their be a clear decision.

Certainly the Bush team was not feeling good this afternoon, but then that was due to exit polls, which I think are the biggest pile of Bravo Sierra in the whole deal.

Exit polls are what brought on the debacle of Florida 2000. The exit polls were saying that Gore was kicking Bush's bellybutton in Florida, despite the fact that the precincts were showing Bush leading by over 15%. Had the networks not called Florida for Gore when Bush was leading, and then had to reverse it, we'd not be where we are now.

So far its just a matter of finishing the count. I havent seen to much evidence (yet) that there might be lawsuits in the morning.

Let's all hope there isn't any lawsuits, last time was ugly enough

I'm sure they will sue everywhere that will let them file the paper whether they have a reasonable case or not. They're going to throw a lotta crap against the wall hoping something sticks. I don't think the counts are really close enough to be dangerous in the end. We'll just have to work through the litigation. It only postpones the enevitable.

I have my preferences for President but I think the true story here is the Senate, House, and Governorships. In the end I think those have a greater potential to effect change over time.

Its all good.

Granted - they were unquestionably wrong. But being wrong only helps science. Hopefully they are approaching it as science and not politics and figure out how they were so WRONG.

The exit polls have been just as bad this year as they were in 2000. I do not expect that to change. I really don't think science has anything to do with the exit polls, or vice versa.

I'd be surprised if Kerry launches a legal barrage. Maybe the party will - but if it's more than one state I can't see it. Both candidates were really classy today - saying it was "in the voters hands." No last minute mud-slinging. I think they both realize that dragging this through the courts for anything less than a repeat of Florida would do just so much damage.

Looking at the map of how states are lining up, though ... damn ... it could be map from a civil war the way things are clustered.

Assuming Bush wins he has a big, big job uniting this country. He better really try to understand why there's such hatred for him (and Cheney), and why it's clustered the way it is. And please don't chime in with that "liberal" crap ... because that ain't what's behind it and you know it.
