Vitamin E supplements = bad
« on: November 12, 2004, 10:21:42 AM »
Well, according to a new report. Not so much new, I read about reports of anti-oxidant supplements not being good for the body a year ago...

http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/conditions/11/10/heart.vitamin.e.reut/index.html

Anyhow, this raises questions of the whole multi-vitamin thing... Do you need them with all of the supplement fortified foods on the market these days?

In some cases, the supplement may be good for you if you don't get enough of it (fish oil, or vitamin C maybe)... but in the case of anti-oxidant supplements, they appear to do more harm than good.

you are wrong... scientists all over the world told me that taking large doses of anti oxidents was very good for me or at best couldn't hurt.   might even cure my cold or prevent global warming.    Now you are saying that they are telling me it is a path to assisted suicide?

Well, they were right... Taking anti-oxidants will prevent global warming, see... with more people dying earlier, the population will taper off at astonishing rates.

With this population reduction, comes a reduced output of waste - namely methane gas, the biggest cause of the accumulation of green house gases that's causing global warming. Not to mention the overall reduction in atmosphere temperature due to less meat sack heaters emitting their warmth.

Then, with fewer and fewer people, there are less automobiles being driven around which causes a further decline in the global temperature climb.

Let's not forget the biggest cause of global warming, guns. Every gun fired emits smokeless, or dependent on ammo - very smoky, fumes that cloud the ozone and trap more heat. Plus, the friction from the bullet travelling down the barrel, and impacting it's target, creates heat. In addition to that heat, the cartridge releases enourmous amounts of heat when the cap is triggered and ignites the gun powder.

So, as you can see - Vitamin E is the leading solution to global warming.

Nice twist..

But they are only bad if you overdose, just like every other vitamin...

Esp. if your body isn't expending the Vit.E

Who needs vitamins when you can walk into almost any gym locker room and get anabolic steroids for half the price.

Apples and oranges Morpheus.  Vitamins maintain, steroids build.

That study is wonky.  So they studied 136,000 elderly.  They're halfway dead already ;)  The article doesn't specify what they got themselves into in the 50+ years before this study.  Amazing they can narrow it to simply vitamin E.
