Great Sun, No Night?

The sun effects are realistic, but why no night fall? It was good in AH I. Bring the night back HTC. We need the sleep.    :rofl

It will be back soon enough. HiTech just wanted to "put the whines on the other side of the fence for a while", so yes, it will be back.

It's funny how the same dorks keep hinting about monitor gamma.

Extreme gamma settings will ruin your monitor, and still will look nothing like true night mode.

YOU CAN SEE JUST FINE AT NIGHT ON AHII. IF YOU CAN'T, YOUR GAMMA SETTINGS ARE PROBABLY ****ED ANYWAY.

All this talk about realism, and you idiots will complain for the rest of your lives if somebody so much as mentions the addition of weather and night.

Just think of the whines.

We get a dark and stormy night. Water on the windscreen obscuring your view. Lightning rattling the wings. Then that first wind gush flipping you on your back. Nothing but IFR to help you right yourself. And you just took off for a night strike. How many points do you loose dieing from wind shear???:)

"Cause night fighters had onboard dar" bla bla bla etc etc etc.

Terrible reasoning on both counts.

ALL planes currently DO have on board dar.

Almost every aspect of the  Game is already being gamed in one way or another.

heh, wouldnt mind seeing all of those elements added to the game, including crosswinds, wind blowing in different directions and at different speeds at different alts. Thermals, Thermals caused by a burning factory, rain, lightning and windshear.

Dont see how any simulation can call itself "Realistic" without many of these things

The gamma correction can be prevented if the game loads a registry hive at startup disabling the video properties applet. When the game is over it can set it back.
So the gamma correction excuse can be overcome.

To get all that they would need to have the ability to run the map environment using data real world weather stations. Maps would have to be made to reflect different areas of the globe (I don't mean maps of countries just mapping the terrain) weather at what ever time of the year it is.

Island maps in the South Pacfic at the moment would be enjoying good summer weather while in the North Winter etc.

Then you'd have a much more realistic environment rather then just feeling like a console game.  Of course you'd then need all the clouds day, night etc to go with it and that would take it all over HT's limit of 80mb download or what ever it is.

Best though would be it's effect on gameplay, everyone would have to adjust according to the weather of the day. No low down turn fights as there could be low unbroken cloud to 10,000 feet, forcing everyone to higher alt fights, etc.  Clouds would have a great  impact on everything and allow for more strategy. :)

Of course I'd assume most wouldn't want this as they just want an environment of action and to kill stuff as quickly and as often as possible without having to worry about 30 knot crosswinds and low cloud.
