What happened to my thread?
There’s something wrong with this bulletin board, I posted this once and now I can’t find it.
I just found out about this site in the “Ever Wonder Why this Board gets So Many Trolls?” thread. What if one or two dozen of us went over to their board and Spammed and trolled their boards? (As they have apparently done to ours) Who’s up for it? We are activist, right? I just checked out their site and board, it’s quick and easy to register. I say, fight ugly meat-eating trolls with kinder, gentler, vegan trolls!
It might be fun. We could pretend to be Neo Nazis, cannibals, hunters of neighborhood dogs and cats, or anything that would be way overboard for most meat eaters. What have we got to lose? If there are so many trolls in here Spamming this place up, they must be getting a kick out of it. They say its best to “know your enemy”. What better way to see how they think and act? Besides, many of those folks appear to be serious hunters, we might eventually be able to make a few of them see the light. I bet that most of them really don’t know all that much about PETA anyway. Even if nothing much changes, we could at least stir things up a bit and tick a few of them off. If someone can come up with a really clever troll, they might even be able to get them to waste a bunch of their time responding to threads and less time… hunting or whatever. It might even be a bonding experience for all of us who participate.

I think your post was removed because we don't want to stoop to their level.
Rather than spam them, do something constructive to help animals.
Metzgermeister 12/20/04 7:08 PM
Good idea
eskimo 12/20/04 7:09 PM
Removed?
I’ve been censored by PETA? We can’t even talk about this sort of activism?

no do not do that. they might have done it to us but that does not mean we can do it to them it would make PETA look bad and make animal rights people look like crazy losers. and plus what does that do for animals? all it does is start a war between different beliefs and that is just a waste of time. so please don't waste your time in doing something like that. and if you really feel that it will help just don't encourage others to do it.
rowanmorrison 12/20/04 7:11 PM
That's not activism. It's stupid harassment and a waste of time.
newguy 12/20/04 7:14 PM
Eskimo's idea isnt half bad, but it would have to be ochestrated IN a very tactful way.
SRVlvr 12/20/04 7:15 PM
rowanmorrison, that is a complete contradiction
"activism" against a meat processing plant by picketing and stuff would be the "harrassment" in that sence, but is OK in your eyes probably.
if you want to protest something like a web site how else would you do it? go to the server location and hold a vigil? noone would know you are protesting, and noone would get the message. THAT would be a waste of time.
rowanmorrison 12/20/04 7:17 PM
Srvlvr, aka troll,
You don't "protest" a website - if you are, you're protesting the right of someone's free speech.
eskimo 12/20/04 7:19 PM
I’m a little upset that a moderator pulled my thread without even saying a word. No point of view or criticism, just deleted! Are we really limited to a few types of activism? How can PETA get anywhere if they don’t allow members to think outside the box, discuss ideas?

rowanmorrison 12/20/04 7:21 PM
eskimo, not to be rude-
but what you are suggesting is NOT activism. It is trollism. If you want to do it, go ahead and stoop to their level. But stop promoting trollism here, at this site, which is dedicated to help animals, not promote trolls.
Razpberry-Fields 12/20/04 7:22 PM
!!! I really hope we have more dignity than harassing them just 'cause they don't like us.
eskimo 12/20/04 7:22 PM
Oh my God rowanmorrison. Are you saying that one of the trolls that are trolling us agrees with me about trolling his site, but the PETA regulars and moderators don’t?
eskimo
rowanmorrison 12/20/04 7:23 PM
Exactly Razpberry. Just like we do, they have the right to express their opinions without harassment.
rowanmorrison 12/20/04 7:24 PM
No, I'm not necessarily saying that. You're probably not alone in thinking that trolling is a good idea. That doesn't make it right.
eskimo 12/20/04 7:27 PM
What harm could it possibly do? What harm have trolls done to PETA?
eskimo
rowanmorrison 12/20/04 7:29 PM
It makes the people doing the trolling look bad. Do you think the trolls here are great representatives of their cause?
Loki 12/20/04 7:34 PM
As a mod on peta-sucks, i must say that I don't reall ygive a****, sinc eI'm not going there anymore, but if you do wish to spam it, keep in line with not posting any old junk. just post "MMMM, I ate a lot of tofu" a few hundred times" or whatnot.
Well, many of the people there come spamming on here, so they must be Ok with spamming.
knock yourselves out, but I advise you to keep your comments to a simple and crappy "mmmmmm tofu" or "I ate falafel last night" to emulate the quality of spam trolls post on this board.
Amanda 12/20/04 7:35 PM
Let's not sink to their level. People who troll on message boards are pathetic losers with way too much time on their hands. Ignore the people on peta-sucks.com. They are complete idiots and they have no life.
Phoebepeta2 12/20/04 7:37 PM
That site (Peta-Sucks.com) is pathetic. They say that we use propaganda, but just look at all their quotes they get from Peta members....they are completely taken out of context and just because one person says something doesnt mean they represent the entire PETA organization.
altered_state 12/20/04 7:38 PM
Tose sites seem stupid when they talk to themselves, i wish no peta member would respond to them, but unfortunatly they do. We should all visit those sites though so we can respond to the stupidest argument when they come to us. But responding to them shows we are as stupid as they are.
rowanmorrison 12/20/04 7:40 PM
Look, I'm all for lurking on those sites and also on the email lists to see what the other side is thinking. You can also sometimes learn a lot about certain events that are planned. I remember when Ringling Bros. was trying to fight the Denver initiative banning circuses, it sent a lot of emails to the various anti-Peta lists asking for help. So it's a great idea to just go and lurk. But it is a HUGE waste of time to spam or even post there. You will never change their minds (in fact, they really don't have any mind of their own to change, they are programmed to believe one thing and one thing only) and you'll just be wasting time that could be spent helping animals.
altered_state 12/20/04 7:41 PM
eskimo, trolling also make them stronger knowing that they do piss us off. When a troll comes here, I think it make us stronger b/c they look as stupid as a republican at the demacratic national convention if you get the analogy.
Loki 12/20/04 7:50 PM
I don't really wnat people to sink to their kind of level. There are some people at peta-sucks.com who are alright, but to be honest, spamming them won't do any good, except giving the people who do spam it a sens eof gettin ga "one-up" on them.
But I don't give a **** to be honest. It'll illustrate to them how annoying spamming is, but the admin there is a sound geezer, and he's the one who'll be doing all the cleanup. And they'll all just take the piss out of the whole incident anyway, so there isn't much point.
but hey do what you want. here's one mod on taht site who ain't gonna be doing 'owt. I've decided not to post there anymore.
Airhead2 12/20/04 7:55 PM
You know what? I feel like Clint Eastwood in "Pale Rider"--- and you PETA posters are the gentle townfolk--- and those jerks at PetaSucks.Com are the drunken n'er-do-wells- and, like Clint, I will not allow these bullies to mess with the townfolk cause it just ain't right.
I eat red meat- it's tough to admit, but I only do it to safeguard against a decreased libido- so I'm not a member here, just a poster passing through, and I can go flame those bunch of a-holes without disgracing this fine community.
Now who is with me?
Steffen 12/20/04 7:57 PM
If you want to troll there then, by all means, go right ahead but do not do so on the "Vegetarian" board because, as a mod over there, I can assure you that your posts will be deleted.
Razpberry-Fields 12/20/04 7:59 PM
Hear, hear! I'm not saying don't complain about the lies they're spreading; I'm just saying don't spam them, and don't be immature about it.
newguy 12/20/04 8:06 PM
I'm with ou Airhead2. We need to be active people! There are more ways than one to achieve this. Dont be be so narrow mINded!
