anyone notice there has been a huge decline in chute shooting?

sort of similar topic, and i bet people getting picked up would bring that back into the game.

images of FDB's diving from 22k to get that chute about to land drift through my head.
I don't know what to put here yet.

As for the idea and using it in the MA? All I can ask is who would be doing the pickup? Do these types of people exist that would find it fun? I'm not sure even shed battling, pork'n'auger dorks would get into playing a "bus" service to players who got thier butt shot down.

Well.... (thinks about the last time I saw the MA demographics) ....then again perhaps there is a large segment of the population that would do it for "points".....

(fwiw, over in "another game" it is a royal, repeat, ROYAL! pita to get a tow or trucked anywhere. I just can't see players in AH finding any fun listening on the country channel to players screaming aloud that someone had better pick them up)

Yes there are folks who are team players. Especially for squadmates. I've run a goon with vehicle supplies out to folks on lots of occasions, usually under fire from enemy GVs and risk of enemy fighters, and it wasn't for POINTS or PERKS.

I see it like having a de-tracked Tiger. You don't expect anyone will bring you vehicle supplies, but when they do you are very grateful and will go out of your way when you can to help them in return. It would be the same for a 262 pilot, if he gets shot down but rescued and brought back, he gets a landed successfully and no loss of perk points.

The rescues don't have to be in enemy territory. Maybe they are a half sector out and you could pick them up in a M-3 or a C-47.

I can see rescue missions being thrown togther to get a downed squaddie.  I can also see enemy fighters loitering around a downed pilot to thwart it.

It adds another new dimension to the game. I think it's a great idea.

Guess I'll never ask you to bring me Vehicle Supplies. And you can be sure I won't bring you any.

I never thought of this.

Say you shoot down Shane and he lands in his chute.  You shouldl be able to land your plane and get out to hunt him down and finish the job.

This is a great idea. I think squadmates would use more than HiTech thinks.

I like the idea.  I saw an earlier thread where someone suggested allowing you to use a GV to pick someone up too.

Actually, that does beg the point: who bails out anyway? Most people I see fly until they go boom or splat or both.

1.  Dan, I think it would be something like a C-47, you land next to the guy, he jumps in, you fly into the sunset.

2.  I think it would be funny if you couldn't pick him up, but instead drop him a vehicle so he could drive his abandoned butt home.   Say an unarmed M-3.  =)  You really want that ditch?  Prove it by driving 3 sectors  :D

3.  Finally, I say implement it, I would circle a downed pilot for hours (or as long as I had fuel) waiting for his buddy to come pick him up, so they can both be waiting....  I like this idea of bait  :aok

If my pistol worked, I would wait around until I was either picked up or had run out of bullets.  :D

It has been sugested before. But I do not belive many people would want to wait around to be picked up. So even thow it would be a cool feture, It somthing that wouldn't be used very often, and hence not very high on the wish list items.

Now in TOD where deaths can have a big penalty, it might make sense to do.

HiTech

We did use rescue in two of the scenarios last year, but it was difficult to manage, since we had to do a lot of the work via communications with the CMs.

How 'bout this--add a "weapon" to the M3, M8, goon, etc.  That weapon would "destroy" a chute nearby, and (through the magic of code) pick up the pilot.  At least in scenarios, that would suffice for proof of rescue.

Just a suggestion, and I have no idea if it could actually be implemented.

I remember one instance of a bearcat pilot landing to pick up a downed pilot in Viet Nam under enemy fire no less.

I see it as the ultimate badge of honor to pickup a pilot.  But I would enable any plane to land and pickup.  The picked up pilot get full perks and the pickerupper gets an equal amount.

Damn right! Not only because you'll never see me in an MA environment again but I just don't call out for bus drivers to do things (I'm not one of those landgrab, shed battling generalZ)  and it goes withouth saying that I certainly don't play as one in any game online anywhere either too.
