As for the idea and using it in the MA? All I can ask is who would be doing the pickup? Do these types of people exist that would find it fun? I'm not sure even shed battling, pork'n'auger dorks would get into playing a "bus" service to players who got thier butt shot down.
Well.... (thinks about the last time I saw the MA demographics) ....then again perhaps there is a large segment of the population that would do it for "points".....
(fwiw, over in "another game" it is a royal, repeat, ROYAL! pita to get a tow or trucked anywhere. I just can't see players in AH finding any fun listening on the country channel to players screaming aloud that someone had better pick them up)
Yes there are folks who are team players. Especially for squadmates. I've run a goon with vehicle supplies out to folks on lots of occasions, usually under fire from enemy GVs and risk of enemy fighters, and it wasn't for POINTS or PERKS.
I see it like having a de-tracked Tiger. You don't expect anyone will bring you vehicle supplies, but when they do you are very grateful and will go out of your way when you can to help them in return. It would be the same for a 262 pilot, if he gets shot down but rescued and brought back, he gets a landed successfully and no loss of perk points.
The rescues don't have to be in enemy territory. Maybe they are a half sector out and you could pick them up in a M-3 or a C-47.
I can see rescue missions being thrown togther to get a downed squaddie. I can also see enemy fighters loitering around a downed pilot to thwart it.
It adds another new dimension to the game. I think it's a great idea.
Guess I'll never ask you to bring me Vehicle Supplies. And you can be sure I won't bring you any.
