The current P38 is far too uber (but that might change if they EVER fix the overblown flaps system)
Geez Krusty, just cause the Ki84 isn';t to your liking doesn't mean everything else is wrong

The L model in AH is the uber 38. It's the end of the line 38 that had the dive flaps, boosted controls, etc. It did all the things it was supposed to.
That we get the earlier G and pre J-25, J model, means it won't be as uber to you. No boosted controls, so the roll rate will be less. No dive flaps, so compressabilty will be an issue if not used right.
BUT! The real deal pilots were quite successful with the early 38s through the J15 well into the winter of 44-45.
I'd suggest some serious 38 research if you are going to make comments about all their troubles too. Lots of that is pure 8th AF politics as they were not complaining in the Med, Pac, Aleutians etc.
The MTO 38 groups were more then happy to go to England and ferry down the 8th AF 38 hand me downs. The 9th AF 38 groups had no objections to this either.
