Sheesh Golfer you make it sound like asking a guy to prove his claims is a capital offense.  He made the comments, why shouldn't he be expected to back them up.

No one wants him to produce his personal information, just the N number of the 51 he flew 500 hours in.  Crap someone even asked you if you saw pics of the 51 he flew and what the nose art was, if any.

What is so horrible about that.

So you saw his certificates, big deal, they are not the issue here.
Things like his 51 time, his degree, these are the things which have complete and direct bearing on this community and HTC.
These are the things in question.  The things he offered so freely on this public BB.

All most people in this thread want, is to know if Straiga is legit and his claims hold water or not.  Hell, I would care about straiga's certs if I gave a crap how a DC10 was modeled, but I don't.

And what do you mean, be careful what we wish for.  Is that some kind of threat to the community?  What could possibly come of Straiga comming clean and backing up his claims, that we would have to be careful of?  Your starting to sound a little hysterical.

You talk about civility and acting like an adult but attack the people just looking for a strait answer.

Your posts read like you are getting emotional because people would like some proof to his claims.  Why is that such a horrible thing.

Did I start out thinking Straiga was FOS?  No, not until he decided he wasn't going to substanciate his claims that he made publically.  And even more daming he will not address them.  Instead he puts you, his supposed friend in a bad position and  uses you as his puppet boy.

All very weak form for an x F14 pilot, son of a General etc, especially if he is telling the truth.

What I find kind of funny is something as simple as stating his fathers P-51 serial number is very simple and isn't destructive to him or his father.  If it were infact true it'd be something to be proud of.  It wouldn't be like he's rubbing it in that his daddy is rich.

Considering his father is also qualified in so many airframes especially one that I maintain makes it interesting.  Also I'm sorry but if he retired from Nellis AFB as a Major General I can find out.  It's rather easy.  Will give me time away from one desert to go to another but it's Vegas.

Does seem odd that in one post he said his dad flew F-15s and the next he flew F-16s.  Typo maybe.  I can also question some of our aircrews in regards to the yawing created by gunfire.  I could probably even ask him to get a tid bit of info from his dad about the F-15 and it's avionics interface.  I could ask something specific that he's either gonna know or not gonna know.  Basic start procedure of the F-15 for that matter.  When throttles were suppose to be cycled for start.  What was required to be done to get the motor to start spooling after a certain sequence was done.  Some of the stuff that is very simple and any aircrew that flies the F-15 or has flown the F-15 will remember.  Since it's such a very simplistic airframe to start.  Heck I know how to do it and I'm not even certified to run the thing.

Anyway...I get a kick out of everyone here and honestly this started out partly a troll because I was quite happy that I got to see his pilot certificate which showed many type ratings.  DC-10, (727 and DC-9 as well if I recall correctly) 767 and among others.  I must say I hooked a stringer full.

Anyway, I've got all the satisfaction I need out of this whole ordeal.  He even brought his FIRC certificate from that afternoon among the many DC-10 and 767 photos from Hawaiian airlines.  None are digital, all are kodak with date stamps.

I've posted the email before.  It's on the website here.  You don't even need to have a huge imagination to figure it out but I'll tell you anyway.  Straiga@hotmail.com amazing, huh?

I will say again that in my opinion you're ALL out of line for asking anybody to post their personal info on a public forum.  Beware what you wish for you might get it, but I will say you won't find everything you're looking for in the registry.  I did a little research and confirmed this by searching for folks that I know have certificates and they didn't come up.  NOBODY has posted a name that they think is his, so as far as I know you don't even have a guess.

After an hour in the car with "Straiga" I can say that he's very knowledgable, intelligent and laid back.  I do consider him a friend now and it really doesn't matter what anyone here says I will continue to do so.  I'm not going to be 'shamed' away and it is also not my place to post his information here.  Get your heads out of your tulips if you think I'm going to GIVE you anything.  Nobody has offered a name here or privately to verify, including Bodhi whom I have asked several times but am given an answer even more 'shady' than you accuse Straiga of being.  I'm done posting on the subject, I will tell you if you can't find out who he is through your many and vast sources...you're not looking in the right place.  I've seen the pieces of paper from the FAA and I am saying that it's true.

Regarding anything else...that's between you and him.

I'd ask that Hitech delete the threads that go above and beyond personal attack including 'Autopilot' bodhi's famous thread which names Straiga in the title and this one.

I can't hide from my stance.  I know too many guys and gals from this game.  No less than 25 members of my squadron alone I have met personally including spouses, significant others, children and pets.  The best part is, I can say that because I know that I don't need to.  I don't suppose it will change anyone's mind but I've stood by giving him a fair shot and in my eyes he's proven himself truthful.  Anything further is your problem with him and I'd suggest you do it privately.  If that's too hard to understand, then I don't know what to say that you're either lacking a life, going above and beyond the call of duty to be confrontational or are awaiting your taping date for the Jerry Springer show.

You're all adults, act like it.  You'd be surprised what a little civilty could bring you...and beware what you wish for because you just might get it.

Golfer, forget the name, forget the certificates.

As far as this community is concerned, the only issue is his claim to special knowledge of P51 and B17 flight characteristics.

If he's for real, what is the name of his pony? And his fortress?

Golfer and Straige are not the same person.

Getting back to the original issues - the issues were engineering and physics and how they are modeled in the game. Straiga's insistance in arguing against some fundamental laws of physics is really the problem. He stated that he has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering, yet claimed that aircraft designers know less than pilots about the forces and physics of flight.

I have no reason to question that he is not a knowledgeable pilot. My gut tells me that there has been some resume enhancement, though. You never really know about the experiences of virtual or real people sometimes.

If some of you went out to dinner or golf or drinks with a long-time friend of mine, you would think the he is just a 'normal' everyday, plain vanilla retired navy guy. Maybe was in personnel or admin or communications, etc.

You would likely roll your eyes if I told you he was the top hook of the US Navy - more traps than anyone else in history and no one will ever catch him because of the nature of tours now. He has over 1,000 traps in A-7's alone. He's a mensa-type, former navy chief test pilot at TPS, blah, blah, the list is endless.

But you've never heard of him unless you were in the Naval Aviation community and you'll find his name nowhere on the internet.

So, sometimes you have be careful.

The thing I find troublesome is that most former Naval Aviators are not much on boasting. It just isn't done. You learn pretty quickly at Pensacola that someone has usually done more of everything... and did it better than you ever will.

I trust Toad and Bhodi understand exactly what I mean. This, and the aggressive defense of something contrary to physics, gets in my craw.

I'll throw one little bone.

You guys oversimplified things a good bit.

He hasn't flown his time in one mustang.
To my knowledge (I didn't ask) and understanding he said he had "stick time" not a pile of hours.  Even I've had a ride in a B-17 and got to sit up front for a while and look out the window.  I wouldn't expect to see an LOA in a B-17 (which someone mentioned earlier) if you're looking there too.

The airplane his father was a parner in, he told me is now in a european country.  Western, Eastern, Baltic or Adriatic...not telling.

I'd go back and re-read your posts and not with your torch lit.  All the info you need is there and to see you guys posting the wrong things is somewhat amusing to me because I know you're not even close.

Here's what I did.  After posting in some of the same threads as Straiga, I saw em online.  I called out on range vox and said hello.  Got to talking and was a pretty nice guy.   Sent him some emails and just kept in relative contact (maybe once a week).

I'd made a decision to go to Las Vegas (after inquiring to him about weather...which was sorely mistaken.  It has rained every friggin day) because of the 'usual' weather patterns and different flying conditions (mountains, high density alt training.  Stuff that was only theory and I wanted to get some actual practice.)

Then...this whole controversy started.  I'd "known" straiga for a short time and I had no reason to doubt he was legit.  I'd asked him some P-51 systems type questions that nobody should know unless you've flown one...then checked them out with a guy I know fly's a P-51 because I've watched him in an airshow ripping the airfield at 30 feet.  That's where I am coming from in this whole thing.  Instead of standing up and saying "on behalf of stragia" I've only said my opinions and tried hard to just take a neutral stance.  I'm not an idiot, I had no proof other than his word but when dealing with people I'm going to consider a friend that does hold weight with me.  I stood by what I said, and didn't turn out to be wrong.

Whatever you guys want to bicker about now is fine by me.  By my view you were all questioning his ATP certificate, type ratings and P-51 authorization.  All of that was settled in just a few minutes of flipping through some pages.  Done deal.

As for the torque threads, I'd talked on the phone with Hitech for a little under an hour for a while and since I come from a flying background with him as an engineer...we agree to disagree.  We each understand what we are saying, but the root causes behind why things happen are not agreed upon.  Fine by me, civil and no name calling or arguing.

And also, just a rhetorical question...

Why should anyone be obligated to prove themselves in any of your eyes just because you say so?

That photo of ME is from my first year of school at Ohio State.  It's about 4 years old now.

I've also posted photos of Wintertime flying in Ohio, I doubt that straiga would have any of those.

And for what it's worth, Kegger...this is a personal attack.  I think you're a thick headed moron to think that we're the same person. Enough peole know me and enough people know straiga (IIRC you claimed to) to know we are seperate people.  If I don't get away with that, you don't get away with all these threads.

"Why should anyone be obligated to prove themselves in any of your eyes just because you say so? "

Why?  It's been explained umpteen times to you but it's pretty clear youve not an inkling or are playing some kind of Straiga "game." Cause man, oh man did you ever miss the cluewagon when it was in town last week.
But since you're posting WOT's that amount to nothing and asking "why's" how about you answer a few?

Why are you still his spokeman Golfer?
Why are you continuing to post in his defense?
Why if he is such a nice, carefree and laid back kind of guy has he behaved so socially dysfunctional?
Why has he refused to come back as Straiga to commiserate with the community about his experiences?
And after reading your recent WOTs of rubbish, since Straiga's self imposed exile, why do you care what people here think ?

I'd easily bet (it' be a suckers bet) that the MIA nut_STRAIGA_job has been reading these topics all this time.

(rgr that Kegger26. It seems to be one of those things that only someone eager to impress would lie about something so stupidly easy to verify. But you;re right. In hindsight the worst liers in the online communiy that I recall are all older. age in the 30's and up)

You neglect to mention that:

STRAIGA HAS BEEN CAUGHT IN A LIE BEFORE

Your father can not be a retired general and colonel in the same branch of the military.  PERIOD

He also claimed to have 7000 hours of heli time.  Do the math, over a 15 year heli career thats a min of 1.3 hours a day, every day.  NO ONE flys helis everday for 15 years.

Then, lets not forget the "Top Gun Instructor" claim, the 500 hours of 51 time, of, and flying for Delta (he never did), and every other statement he makes, and you see why I am peeved.

Your saying you saw something means exactly crap to me, because you can not even own up to the fact that he has already lied before.  Personally, I think you are getting into his boat as well.

Straiga is the type of liar that everyone hates.

These are very valid questions Golfer, I hate to keep breaking your balls, but you keep dancing around the issues.

Like Westy has so elequently pointed out, you keep asking this question as if you are not reading any of these posts.  Why is that?  Why have the numerous answers in this thread on this exact question not satisfied you?

Golfer, are you having fun playing secret agent man?

You know, from previous posts of yours (on other topics) I had some respect for you but this continuous cutesy-cutesy krap is incredibly childish.

Look... get this.. the guy puts himself forward as an "expert witness" in Mustangs and essentially in B-17's as well. With these credentials he proceeds to criticize the game.

Fine and dandy. However, any rational person would expect to be questioned on those bona fides.

Straiga, when questioned, simply disappeared.

Doesn't say much for him.

Now, as to "which Mustang", I feel pretty confident that I can verify this with just the N or name of the Mustang he flew the most or even just his father's Mustang.

I have emailed him with that request at the address you provided. I'm not going to post his name or anything; I'll just post whether or not the info "checks out".

As for names.... do you know his middle initial? Is it "A"?  Still think no one knows his name? I could give you the two letters of the alphabet that are next to one another and reversed too. Amazing what stuff comes into a Hotmail account. And when you run that name through the FAA registry, you get ratings similar to what he's posted. So, want to match names?

Note this: so far my Mustang community friends can't place that name as attached to the given (posted) biography. Interesting, eh? I think with more info on which aircraft that could be settled one way or the other. It's always possible they never heard of the guy... although Reg Urschler thinks he would be at least aware of another retired USAF General who owned a Mustang and had a son that was a Navy F-14 pilot and flew said Mustang. And Reg is just one fellow I asked.

Quote
By my view you were all questioning his ATP certificate, type ratings and P-51 authorization

Then your view is blind. Check back... all I asked for was the N number or noseart of the Mustang. And don't tell me he got one hour in 500 different Mustangs. There has to be ONE he has the most time in.

I really don't care about his ATP or type ratings. Like I said, pilots around this board are a dime a dozen.

You claim to be a 500 hour Mustang pilot around here while criticizing the game, I'm going to ask for bona fides. You, Straiga or anyone else.

You get asked and run away.... there's about only one conclusion to draw.
