the Child and the parents.
Its this bleeding heart attitude of not properly diciplining your kids that has juvinile crime at an all time high.
30, 40 + years ago kids would never dare do half the crap they do today cause they know they would get their hides tanned if they did.
Now its "the teachers fault" the cops Fault", "the systems fault"
Some 35 years ago I made the mistake of using the teacher's magnifying glass to light the classroom trashcan on fire while she was out of the room.
Teacher came back in - threw trashcan out door - gave me several swats with a paddle.
Took me to principal's office - more swats with bigger paddle.
Principal called parents, came and got me, took me home. Then the REAL punishment started.....
I never lit another trashcan on fire in a classroom after that - I'd somehow lost all desire to do those kind of things.....
Now, having been a public school teacher for the last 16+ years, I can look at my students and tell you which ones have some sort of discipline at home, and which ones do whatever the heck they want to and basically run the show. The 2nd group are the ones who have no respect for others, fail to do any assignments, are shocked to find out there are consequences for their actions, etc. They are also the ones who, when you do call their parents, the parents usually threaten to sue you for "mentally harrassing" their child, cuss you out, etc.
I often think that if we were to follow Singapore's example of public caning, a lot of the crap in the schools would quickly disappear.
