JG54 in the CT, good or bad?

I don't think we have met in the CT humble. I'm sure I would be easily forgetten as the 'easy kills' you got while in there. Either way I do agree that 10 on 1 is not fun for almost anybody. Personally I prefer to be on the 1 side of that fight, then I know that the kills I got, I earned. That being said, I don't intend to say that makes it right to gang up on anyone.

I've seen a big change in the CT lately as far as sportsmanship. I haven't been around as long as you or many others have so I can't comment on the long term change to the arena. But more often than not in the past weeks, I have seen people staying out of 1 v 1 fights until they are finished and seen a lot of good chatter on ch 200, some of it witty jesting and some of it constructive criticism and some of it just chatter.

I try my best to even things up but I have found myself on the ganging side without even knowing it. My own fault for not checking the roster from time to time but when I do realize it, I auger and switch up. Hopefully my attitude can be contagous, after all, I caught it from folks like oldman, grits and lowe.

Come in and check it out sometime, Humble, I hope you will be pleasantly surprised by what you see. I'd love to have another person kill me besides the current 10 - 20 that are doing it now. :)

I think what humble and I are saying is we veiwed the CT as a place to go where you wouldn't get ganged like the MA. oboe, you are correct in your statement that a smart squad in WW2 would attack with all the adv. including alt and numbers. But from my understanding and what I got from many who fly CT, is it's the place to go if you want more of the "honorable" fights. You run into a 3 on 1 and supposedly at least 1 would stay out to give you a chance. I'm sure there are still people in there like that, but I haven't found them. And besides, unlike WW2, if you BnZ and cherry someone enough, they will just log. Thats basically what happened to me that night. I went to the heavily outnumbered side and got Bnzed by a bunch of alt monkeys, so I logged. I don't know who they were so I'm not saying it's JG54(as a matter of fact I was German). I might try flying in the CT a few more times to see how it goes. But VWE wanted input from people and from my unbiased veiw, I still say it was like a mini MA, with cons being stupidly high, BnZing and when they get in trouble, tucking tail and running home. I'm really not trying to insult anyone who flies in there, it's just my 1st experience was a really bad one.

I could care less what your tired of....or how you fly. I simply tried to answer the question posed. As for you and the checkersnails....

Squads exist for the sole purpose of projecting power. Basically they are an "invention" of a fairly large scale enviornment or a relatively heated competition in a smaller setting. Back in AW in the mid 90's (AOL) the FR arena had total head count of 30-50 most of the time. Although there were squads....combat was normally either 1 on 1 or small groups...a big furball had maybe 7-10 guys total....yet at the same time the RR arena's had large squads and combat was often 40 or 50 in one area (the VOD for example). In RR#2 where my "squad" was based...we matched up with other large squads and squad ops were how we judged each other...we looked for our counterparts.

How you (or any other group) can view accomplishment in the absence of real competition as anything other than meaningless is beyond me.

What the heck did I ever do to you Humble?  I've been with the 325th Checkertail Clan for almost 3 1/2 years now and I've never slammed another individual player or squad either in jest or in anger.  If you've got a beef with me, then you tell me and we can discuss it like men, but keep your insults and name calling to yourself.  It's that kind of BS and trash talk that do nothing to improve things in the CT; which is what I believe allot of the threads here are referring to...

It's the CT, who really cares.  My guess is not too many people, considering how few are in there each night.

I actually like the CT so don't start on that crap...

Maybe I just see things differently than most of you do, but every time I've been on, I have seen members of JG54 flying both sides in the CT.  They may not always be the FIRST to switch, but they do try to even things up.  And despite the reputation, I have NEVER heard storch or VWE go off on ANYONE without some prior provocation.  All of them are quick enough with the insults or whatever in retaliation, maybe even to the extreme sometimes, but it has always been provoked first.  To my way of thinking, if you dont want to get stung, dont go around pissing off bees.

As far as "ganging" goes, I just see it as squad tactics.  They have each other's backs.  Thats a good thing.  They dont do it any worse than any of the other squads ever did, its just that they are one of the few squads left that have any real numbers up at any given time in a relatively small arena.  Yes, it can get frustrating when the numbers get really low, but if it happens and they dont feel like switching, I  just log off.  Pretty simple solution.

Problems with individuals?  Well, VWE sucks.  :)

No seriously.  He does.

Ok ok.  Not really.  I just get tired of him shooting me down lol.  But thats more MY fault.  No problems there, I just need to work more on my SA.

Other than VWE though, who really just gets folks ticked off at themselves, I think there are really only 2 others that get the focus of the anti-JG54 feeling.  Storch, TK, I think are great guys.  Both have a temper control problem.  Storch has certain issues that seem to be buttons for other people to push, and they do.  I think people get the wrong impression when they come in to the arena after someone else has had a chance to get him fired up, and the wrong ones end up being the focus of his temper.  Makes for a bad rep. he doesnt completely deserve.  TrueKill........ well, he's creative and pretty good at organizing........ but like most creative people I think he's about half nuts lol.  It just seems sometimes like he is on a hair trigger and he doesnt do anything by halves.  Whatever he is doing is 100%.  Including going off on people.  All I can say when someone pushes him over the edge is, thank God those guns arent real.  Really, people see one of his eruptions and they REALLY get a bad idea about the CT.  I can say his reactions are almost always provoked.  I cant say the level of his response is always justified.  I think he overreacts.  But then I'm not him.  Still, there needs to be some self control on the language.  We all need to work on it, I know, but ..............

Anyway, its just my views.  I think the squad brings alot to the CT.  And if there is some bad with the good, thats true of every squad.  They just stand out because they have the numbers and the presence.  I say, if you dislike them that much, dont desert the arena.  Come help shoot them down.  :)

I dont recall ever meeting you in the CT but its possible. I dont have anything against "you"....however my personal feeling is that the checkertails started the downhill slide of the CT. How?

By running "missions" in the CT....basically you guys were the ones who initiated the whole "porking" phase. You would role up maps vs no opposition. You always went as a group and really were the 1st "gaggle" I ever encountered in the CT. You (as a group) also initiated the current "trash talking". I used to ask you guys why you would pork and fly as a gaggle against almost no opposition and I got back comments similiar to what you here now....along with the "squad" excuse. I feel today just like I felt then. You came to the CT since you couldnt cut it in the MA as a squad.

Thats not BS and its not "trash" its an observation based on 1st hand interaction. Your signature line cracks me up, the checkersnails used to "train" against undefended digital dirt in the CT....fought about the same way to back then.

But I'll give you guys credit, your in the MA now were you belong and I'm sure overall you've improved.

I recently joined the 56th FG.  We fly on Thursday night sometimes with JG54 in the CT.  It's a GREAT TIME when you have 6 jugs vs. 6 190's or 109's.  It really helps with the immersion, if you're into that aspect of Aces High.  I think ToD will help simulate this environment more, as some computer opponents will fill in the missing blanks.

As far as the name-calling, I've never had a problem in the CT with anyone.  I think immaturity begets immaturity.  If you don't have a reason to talk, then don't, right?  I think these guys are decent and we treat them decent as well.  See you all in the CT on Thursday night!

The CT is a wreck. By those who run it and those who fly in it. You know who I mean so don't try and come back with alot of crap about the great job you do until your willing to fix it. Or, have the powers that own this game fix it.

You can BS some of the people some of the time, but most of the people, never.

"nuff said.

The ct is just a mini ma..people are people....I seem to remember my encounter there with the JG squad. The only thing worse than the gangin was the guys who got killed and re-entered the fight. Wingin is part of the game but reuppin in the ct after ya die and screamin into the furball again guns blazin i found to be overboard in a non MA evironment. Not much honor there. I made a few comments about the gangin and was told not to let the door hit me.....You asked I answered. No hard feelings jst bein honest.
