But, Militias have no business to even be in existince much less carry out actual operations

Based on your deciding people who want to form militias shouldn't?

You feel the people should no longer be allowed to form a common interest militia based on what?  That we have a government, or an army?

I think the framers of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independance, and the Bill of Rights knew this, they knew they were forming a government, yet they addressed a militia and protected they rights for them to exist.  I think they expected the government to have an army, yet they felt militias were important too.

Militias will always be needed, where there are taxes without, OR with piss-poor representation.

No, but they make the price of oppression non-zero.

Wait...  I'm receiving word on CNN that all of the militias have spontaneously disbanded.  It seems that your analysis has turned the tide, Suave!  Goodness, all it took was your one message for the obviousness of the fact to become immediately apparent to everyone.

Good job!  You win the prize!  (in the finest internet tradition behind that phrase)

The Clinton administration did not think Militia's were a joke or a non-threat to the government.   While I am not sure of the practicality of a militia, I support states rights and the formation of state militia's.  Not so sure about the 'bubba hunting club' militia, but that's one for the lawyers to decide on.

When 'the people' have the right to peaceably assemble and speak freely, a militia is not needed.  The pen is mightier than the sword.  The only reason for the concept of a militia to exist is when those rights to assemble and speak are threatened by internal or external enemies.

I view the militia as part of the 'checks and balances' in the US democratic system.  Similar in concept to the judiciary, executive, and congressional branches of the government.  Lately the judicary branch as been under severe scrutiny because of disagreements with a majority party in the executive and congressional branches.  Balance will be restored once people realize that the 'terrorist threat' has be mitigated by focused intelligence (note that the Clinton administration dropped the ball on this intelligence, partly due to focus on 'threatening' militias).

Malta
