Whelp, married off my kid; the Ex has finally figured out how to wind up the dog and start the car all by herself, so it's time for me to get the hell off Long Island and retire somewhere pleasant.
I need to stay fairly centrally located on the east coast, but would like to expand my customer base a bit to the westward some (I travel to big R/C meets during the summer months).
Was looking at the Ohio River valley.. from Wheeling WV down to about Parkersburg. Seems like the cost of living there is about half what it is here in the shadow of NYC.
Any of you guys from around there? If so; any advice regarding good towns to settle my old bones in? (All old Mose wants is his rocker on the porch.. I ate dirt, Ethan, they tought I wuz crazy, an they let me go..)
I live 66 Miles East of Parkersburg on Route 50, Parkersburg is a nice place. Parkersburg has some good resturants, We head there when we need to go to Home Depot, (The Next closest is Washington PA).
Ritchie County, the next county over from Parkersburg is very rural. Pennsboro, and Central Station, are only about 15 to 20 minutes East of Parkersburg, And I think there is a small Airport outside of Parkersburg too. I live Four Counties from Parkersburg, in Harrison County, Just outside of Clarksburg. There are towns in between, Clarksburg and Parkersburg, but are very small even compared to those two.
West Virginia is a nice place to live, but if you want rural, be ready to drive if you want civilazation.
If you have any more questions, Id be happy to answer.
