well, its official. i am to be a Seabee in the united states navy. although i was slated to be an sonar tech. why change my rating? well, my decision to be a sonarman was sort of a spurr of the moment decision adn i did not think it though very well. however, for years now i have wanted to be a seabee. and now my dream has come true. i ship out for basic training in august.:aok

Probably a lot more useful training that you can use in civilian life later on unless you wanted to learn electronics. :aok

electronics may pay well but it is too tedious. i like building stuff.

Building stuff is just one part of it. You actually get to UNBUILD stuff with explosives too.  :D

An instructor at my Bootcamp was a seabee, and there is a SeaBee HQ at NAS jax.

CB, can stand for Construction Battalion and/or Combat Battalion. But I believe the first is correct.

The Navy does have bases and facilities on land. In hostile areas, they are built and maintained by the Navy, with Navy personnel.
