While it may be a little disappointment for some, since it wasn't a P-47M.. still, you boys finally got your P-47N as a great plane!

:) I hope it is unperked or very very lightly perked, and is not done the injustice the Spit14 and F4U-4 have been done.

 Congrats Juggernauts!

What's the deck speed on the P-47N? Will it be competitive against the dragster planes??

I can tell by the prewhining alone that I'm going to enjoy the P-47N.

by Republic Aviation Corporation.

All performance data is for "Combat Gross Weight" which means a full internal ammunition load and a full internal fuel load. This is different than "Normal Gross Weight" which is the maximum weight in which the aircraft can be maneuvered to its design load factor. The "N" has a massive internal fuel capacity of 570 gallons.

A full internal ammunition and fuel load in an "N" model weighs 5,332lbs.

The "N" model would thus carry an additional 2,500lbs (2,499lbs) of fuel over and above the "M" model (under circumstances where the ammunition load is the maximum) in "Combat Gross Weight" configuration.

Empty Weight:  10,998lbs.

Combat Gross Weight: 16,330lbs.

Powerplant:  A.C. Designation is R-2800-73.

Model is R-2800-TSC2G.

Mfg. Spec is A-8088-C

Weight of engine dry is 2,336lbs.

Oil tank capacity is 40 gallons

Propeller is 13' in diameter and weighs 565lbs.

"The following performance data is at WEP and at "Combat Gross Weight" of 16,330lbs"

Take off over 50ft obstacle (flaps retracted) is 6,030ft. (Loaded at maximum take off weight of 21,198lbs)

There are no sea level climb figures provided. The altitude markers are 5,000ft, 15,000ft and 28,000ft.

Rate of Climb at 5,000ft:   2,950ft/min

Rate of Climb at 15,000ft:  2,600ft/min

Rate of Climb at 28,000ft:  1,600ft/min

---

The "N" model's wing loading in "Normal Gross Weight" is 43lbs.

Armor protection around the pilot was as follows:

Armor plate - Bottom/Rear - 1/4" from the bottom of the seat up to the shoulders

Armor plate - Rear - 3/8" for head

 Armor plate - Front 3/8"

Bulletproof Glass - 1-1/2" set at 39.5 degree angle

And the "N" model had an automatic pilot.

*edited out "M" model preformance to make post shorter.

Hmm.. the climb seems to be not very good though.. which would probably mean a low acceleration rate compared to some.  But then again, a typical fighter configuration in AH might carry only 50% fuel..  since it boasts such long range?

If this plane can manage over 360mph at deck, then it'd be a dang competitive one. Preferably over 365~370..!

As far as I can tell that climb rate is with full fuel and ammo.  Since you're not escorting B-29's to Japan in the MA I would bet no one would ever toss drop tanks on nor need more than 25% fuel.

14 german fighters vs. 18 american fighters I know HTC is a american comp. but they might want to keep plane sets even. We need more brit and german planes because they were fighting each other the whole 6 years of the war. US and ruskys joined in 41. Most of yall like flying the easy mode planes but there are some ppl that like flying the "crappy" early war planes spit1 E4s 202s those sort of planes.

btw you might want to go read rule 6.
