hitting buffs with ROCKETS

anyone here have proof of killing buffs with rockets?

I've done it beyond gun range many years ago.  But it took a lot of practice in the TA and I never got to the point that I could do it regularly (beyond gun range).  I did kill Kbman in a Hog vs Hog rocket HO at nearly 2k about six years ago.  I probably lobbed a feww hundred rockets at planes before that happened though.

a squaddie of mine, sindon, regulary hits B24s from 1.5k with P38J nose rockets. I'm trying to get a film off him.

I'll film it sometime, I can spread the jugs 10 rockets salvo 1 into the flight path of a formation from d800 and usually get a hit.

actually its easier with hvar's than german rockets....maybe a matter of training

Wolfala used to do that quite a bit in the 38. Amusing stuff. My only A2A HVAR kills have been accidental.

I can do it regularly with the german rockets, its a matter of practice.. do it this way:

Approach the bomber from behind, keep it steady halfway down (or maybe even  2/3s down)  the lower dash (the line going down from the circle) from the aiming reticle (zoom in to get better accuracy). Just when the range jumps from 1.5 to 1.0 fire off rockets with 2 sec. spacing.

Of course this depends a little on altitude and overtake speed. Also its only viable against a non-maneuvering target.

i Killed a temp once ho with my typh rockets at about shot at 1 to 1.2 hit i think 600-800..

You can kill anything with rockets, though at times it can be tough. It used to be fun to take a 38 into tank town and pick off M3's and panzers back when tank town was tank town... on trinity map. Once you figure out the trajectory of them taking a plane out isnt all that difficult. I forget who killed me with it, but someone shot my La7 with a german flack rocket while I was trying to get to their goon.
