Microfreezes/Lockups/CTD's Post here
« on: November 10, 2005, 10:36:55 PM »
Hi everyone,

First let me state the new planes are great!  Wonder when the 16 will be perked....LOL....

I have noticed along with a bunch of my squaddies that we are experiencing numerous "microfreezes".  Some are noticing lockups.

Several others are experiencing CTD's and others in the arena are posting this as well.

These were not occuring prior to the new patch.  Just thought I'd post on it....Skuzzy any thoughts????

Regards,

TG12

Did you enable the loading of skins?  Disable it and see if that helps.

Skuzzy,

I have tried it both ways....with the enabled skins off and with the enabled skins on.  Still the similar problem.

As for reproducing it.....it appears that it happens when I am getting ready to engage a set of buffs, diving towards a furball near the ground, and when in turns moving left and right.

The freezes slowed down (less frequent) as the night wore on but were still evident even after 4 hours with the new update.

On a side note.....several squaddies were getting lockups and CTD's although I have not experienced them at all.

Thanks for the quick response....

Regards,

Mike:)

Did the mini-warps smooth out as you got closer (within 1000)?

We are trying to get anyone to send us a film showing the anomaly.  We have not been able to duplicate it, or duplicate exactly what we think players are seeing (which may be the whole issue).

Please send us a film of the event.  It would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Skuzzy I will film all my flights next time up.  Which will most likely be Sat or Sun night late.  Have brother in town on vacation.

Hope this helps you all out.

Skuzzy, i had also small 'freezes'. Its like the game is on pause for a few milliseconds, then continues normally. They do *not* show on film (even though film viewer showed other strange stuff - see post in bug forum).

They seem to be occuring when i activate voice transmission or sometimes when i look around (keypad). Not consistently.

Same as well for me but not apparent during vox transmissions....could not get it to duplicate in any of the films from last night.  I will be afk for about a week as I have to return to albuquerque to do some flying.  I will be up next weekend to try it then as well.  VERY frustrating on my end.

FYI...this machine ONLY runs AH...nothing else.  The only change was the implementation of the new patches....and btw...I was running the game when the server shut down to implement the patch...then was up right after the update.....the microfreezes started right at the update.

Hope this helps.

Same here. Reduced to 512 from the default 1024 to see if that helped.
It hasnt.

Seems most prevelant when chaging views, and other AC are in the area particularly after having the clipboard up.

Example. Clipboard up looking at map, strat, rosters etc.
Put away clipboard and look around or move in  on a bogy.
-------pause------------------pause--------------pause

also more fotwen when turning then flying straight ahead
Will pause for a count of 1-1,000 then go smooth. Pull hard and change views  to keep bogy in sight(pause)

Will try to remember to turn cam on for a change

Really messes with the SA

I'm having the same problem... didn't happen before the new smoothing patch.

Out of curiosity, is it just AMD folks having a problem?

I have an AMD 4000..

DEfinintly related to vox transmission. I can reproduce the micro-pauses by activating my voice radio transmission.

Now there is a problem I have managed to solve.
At least on my machine

Usually related to Vox and/or sounds.

Typically I get this whenever a new version is released.
I found that if I manually uninstall the game then reinstall the game with the full updated version that problem goes away.

By manually uninstalling I mean going into windows explorer c/program files/HTC/ then manually (or in your case womanually)deleting the entire AHII folder.
For some reason if you use the uninstall option it doesnt work. You havet to delete it yourself.

Its just that for me. That didnt work this time. Though for some odd reason it ran fine for me last night.
