Being as you're new I understand what you're saying but...

1. Your six is your responsibility, unless you're flying with a wingman.

2. Consider any and all six calls as gifts.

That pretty much sums it up. Most of us TRY to give them as often as possible. That's all you can ask and we hope you do the same.

This wasn't a rant to the people who like to take everything personal, if you didn't notice, it was more of a question cause I was pondering about this when I got blown up the other day.

If I have someone on my 6 and I see an ally in trouble, I will duck and weeve my way to him to try and clear his tail talking to him the hole time. I know then that he will clear my 6 (usually) after I'm done with his problem.

I see people asnswer "CHEKC YOUR OWN SIX" oh I do but sometimes you do get that tunnel vision right when your about to shoot and you get nailed. The guy who mentioned he wished there were more team work, Make more. The more you operate as a team the better the people's stats get around you and the more they will want to work this way.

Everywhere I fly or in every furball I get into (yes I'm still new to this game a little) I'm alwase talking with the poeple around me calling out high 51's or 262's and the like. It's more fun to me that way and it's a lot more fun when I see someone in trouble and I get them out. 99% of the time they thank you and you get that much more respect.

I'm only looking at this in the fun direction so I'm trying not to rant or anything like that.

I have noticed the same lack of check 6 calls during the furball.  I chalk it up to how busy everyone is trying to stay alive.  If I'm involved in the same furball, giving someone else a check 6 call is a little lower on my priority list. I do when I can, but I miss out on the opertunity. If I'm on the ground in my ostwind of death, I am more apt to check 6 you.

Recently I have noticed and are guilty of saying over the vox "check 6" instead of using the default call.  because of the vox delay, sometimes the call comes too late.

What we need to work on is the total radio traffic during furballs.  there is too much garbage.  I find myself squelching 2-3 folks because what they have to say is not pertinent to the opperation.

Please folks priority traffic only during these situations.

thats all I have to say about that....medc

There are more problems than that. One is that the chk6 call lags pretty bad, so in a furball it is mostly to late if you give one the other guy already falls out of the sky if he hears them.

When your in a furball always some enemy is latching on your 6. So chk6 calls are totally useless, because you would get and have to give so many that there would be a permanent chk6 warning.

When someone is in combat i expect that he is watching his 6 regulary. In my eyes only two reasons to give a call is if i see a guy is getting roped and if someone is in cruise mode and an enemy sneaking up on him.

Schutt nailed it down pretty good i think.

I hate it when im chesed by four cons, being wildely evasive and i keep getting a chk6 from the same guy over and over... "I KNOW "!"§$"!"§$$%&§$%6, i cant tell you i know CAUSE IM F******* BUSY RIGHT NOW.... would you mind HELPING me instead of sending a six call???"

But it saved my life more than once when i was unaware someone had sneaked up on me and i got a call from a friendly around just in time to go evasive.... TY for that.

Last night over Malta i had the rpiviledge to witness some very good teamwork. Assigned squad or not, in that huge confused furball everyone kept shouting six calls to everyone else when needed. I didt *always* get a call when i had someone on my tail, but you cant expect that. Like noone can expect *me* to send a call to *every* player around me thats attacked. SA is limited.... But we did a great job over Malta. Together!

I call 6's and try to assist.

I prefer team flying (I'm an EX-Marine).  I avoid areas where people take some of the above attitudes.  I fly in areas where people try to work together.  I can name several people that do the same!  We have more or less learned by flying together what works for us.  (NOTE: My entire squad is very good at this!)

I talk during a fight calling out in bounds, divers, etc.

If i'm in a fight and you shoot down the plane I'm chasing GREAT!  GOOD JOB!  I'll compliment you on the shooting if there is time. :D  I don't care who gets the kill.  I DO want all flying in the area I'm in to RTB when the fight is over or they need fuel or ammo.

Take care of those around you!  There are at least 2 reasons to do this!

1.  It gives the nme more targets to engage and therefore more attackers to worry about and try to avoid!

2.  If you take care of them they usually return the favor or if they don't then you know to avoid flying around them.

While it's true you are responsable for your own 6, it sure helps allot when the person on the con that is on you warns you!  Frequently you can try to set the con up for them!  Instead of them worrying more about the kill they plan to get!  Possibly at your expense!  (hmm score is more important?)
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

I give 6 calls when I can...I'm currently without a mic so I will also throw a 6 call out to let a friendly know I am there should he need help.

I don't expect them in return but find that I usually do get them.

It seems if I use the ' key if many are up the wrong guy gets it before I toggle it to who I want.

The other day I peered over my cockpit and spotted Fredtex, if I remember right, maneuvering against a bandit far below me. I rolled over and dived but it was going to be a fair amount of time before I got there. Just as I rolled over Fredtex comes up on Vox and says "I wish somebody would have told me that there was somebody on my six" and he promptly did some magic doo-doo and killed the guy before I got anywhere near. I told him that I thought he already knew the guy was back there because it looked like he was manuvering against him and didn't want to send an extraneous six call.

He was quite gracious about it.  Still don't know what he was doing with his aircraft as that was the only bandit in the area.

If you are doing air defense in a GV you are zoomed in quite a bit of the time and concentrating on enemy aircraft and limited in view, ergo, no Checks unless you are in my field of view. Other times my view may be just a mass of intertwined green and red and can't tell who is positioned on who.

There can be many reasons for not getting six calls, but ultimately, you are the pilot in command and responsible for your own six. They can be a blessing or a pain. I will quite often be tracking an IB in an Osti and get a check six call. Now, do I break off my tracking and do a 360 scan? Is he telling me about the one I am looking at? Can he see which way my gun is pointing?

Anymore I generally ignore these unless it has been quiet and I'm hunkered down in the turrent reading Playboy.
