I'm pleased to announce that "junior" officer Maddison Grace was successfully transferred from womb to RL at 21:57 GMT, 19/11/2005.
She weighed in at 6lb and 12oz, induced at 3 weeks premature.
Baby and mother both doing fine and this concludes what can only be described as the pregnancy and year from hell!!!
Kelly, the "wife ack" suffered pre-natal depression and was hospitalised for 5 months of the pregancy, was discharged 1 month ago to then find she had been diagnosed as diabetic, further tests concluded that the baby was too.
Our consultant had decided for Kelly's own state of mind and further recovery from depression to induce the baby.
She was induced yesterday morning at 09:15, and at 20:00, almost 12 hours later, nothing had/was happening, plenty of contractions but no delivery!
Then out of the blue, some 15 mins later, good old mother nature decided we'd been through enough, lent a helping and delivered the baby in about 20 minutes flat!!
So, all is well now.
In all the bad months this year being at home looking after my other two daughters, the only form of escapism for me has been this game.
Its allowed me to "escape" for the odd hour every night when safe in knowledge that Kelly was safe in hospital and the kids were tucked up in bed.
For this I thank you HTC, not the most straightforward of commendations you'll have had for your game but believe me one of the most heartfelt!
Thanks also to my fellow squadmates in 242 Squadron whose banter, goodwill and friendship have always meant that although I was on my own, kids aside, I never "really" was.
One final piece of news to show the tide is turning is that the diabetes was purely pregnancy (gestastional) related, both mother and baby have shown blood sugars as normal today!
Cheers guys
Smiggy.
