awesome game, except for the mods who kick you out of the server because you keep killing them or get wise to their camp positions.  Lame!

Skuzzy was TEH RIGHT!!!

I posted this over there, the only thing I've seen so far from RO is a nice blue screen!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I purchased RO via STEAM yesterday, downloaded it... on launch I got a BSOD. I tried rebuilding the cache, and I got this:

[/img]

Read this forum (thread posted on the front page of the main site), found out about the file being corrypted by firewall. Deleted local files, Disabled Zonealarm and my AV and downloaded the file again.

I get the same BSOD when launching the game. My system is up to date (see DXdiag attached ) (Rename the .zip in a .txt file).

Please help!

disabling ZA doesnt help, for some unholy reason you have to uninstall it completely, RO doesnt like it.

Nah, your problem is that crappy ZA, not Steam :p

Even HTC had their own issues with ZA...

Uninstalled ZA, now I can't see any maps or join a server... this is a joke.
I've been lucky so far with games, looks like my luck stopped here.

I can't buy it, says the CC billing address I entered doesn't match what the bank has. Which is odd, because I've lived in the same place for 25 years. It seems the stupid address has to match exactly, so I can't abbreviate "Street" or "Apartment".

I'll give it another go tonight. :(

ZA has never needed to be removed for Aces High II to work.  I just want that understood.  The only issues we have had with ZA has occurred when we tried to put a friendly pop-up telling people to allow AH through the firewall.

Yeah but one of the attempts at fixing the ZA issue screwed it up for some of us with a router and we couldn't connect for 2 or 3 days until it was fixed. All we could do is remove the router, turning off the routers' firewall did nothing... Once it was fixed for us, ZA was problematic again...

Here's one of those threads:

Cant Connect; Host times out

fyi, I have read where others have gotten Zone Alarm and RO: OST working together. It's just easier to remove it completely,  just like it was when ZA was a hassle when running AH. :p

Sigh, Bruno, that was our fault.  Not ZA's.  We were not trying to fix an issue.  We were making an attempt to make the game a bit more friendly to users who use a firewall.

And why is it so funny?

Well the problem with ZA and RO: OST is the game developers (to include Quake / UT folks; RO uses the Quake 2.5 engine). Folks with ZA, AOL etc.. are all having issues. Plus there's appears to be plenty of folks in Saw's boat who can't see any maps or servers. But none of this has much to do with Valve or Steam.

Funny? It's all in good fun aint it..?

Anyone know how fast this Steam thing normally downloads stuff to install?

I'm getting a blazing fast 6k/s... I can transmit data faster by reading it and typing it into a file myself.

I'd love to try this game out, but you just can't buy computer games at any of the video game stores around here anymore... and this download should be finished sometime around the same time I die of old age.
