Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 will release on Steam

Just been playing it - was a good blast - much better than the mod. The MG is actually quite useful now as it does provide suppression - you screen blurs slightly when a bullet goes near. Tracers also bounce off hard surfaces too.

The Stalingrad airfield map is a work of art. The rag doll death stuff is pretty eerie too.

As for the tanks, they are much improved and long range fire fights are well modelled.

Overall, the immersion factor has been upped considerably.
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

What network security issues does SKuzzy speak of?  You keep repeating yourself but don't give any examples.  The only issue I was aware of was years ago in HL:2 development when someone installed a keylogger and got access to all the HL:2 data.

Ive already ran into the CS/DoD people, nothing like getting a sweet spot and setting up your MG42 only to get shot point blank in the back by your own team...only to have him say.. Oh well this isnt like DoD. Or see a pile of guns at the spawn because someone is trigger happy.  But other then the morons the game is pretty fun. I was playing RO mod until the release of the new ostfront.

I'm not sure how i feel about the bouncing bullets... seems like alot of bullets bounce in the game?

I’m enjoying taking out n00bs…..it is very easy to spot them since they don’t use cover/concealment and just walk around nonchalantly. But they sure do learn quick.. after few 7.62 holes...

my first kill was with the soviet anti tank gun, was testing the setting up and the sights, when 20 feet away a german helmet pops up. I wonder how far his helmet would fly in dod like that. Tanks would be more fun if you had someone with the rudimentary knowledge of tank combat driving.

well the crap soft eating the ghost out from my box

LOL. I miss Minus.

I had to install Steam to play HalfLife 2. Didn't like it but so far the sun still rises. I'm more nervous about that Starforce copy protection. But, I installed it for Silent Hunter 3 without any problems. I guess the big issue is if this is going to be a trend -- where you have 8 "Straforce clones" and 6 "Steams" running on your system at any time making it even harder than it is today in the era of XP to diagnose some problem.

Would someone mind verifying for me that it's a non-recurring $25 for the full RO install, and it doesn't require me to have any version of the Unreal engine? :)

Is this another one of those games where only 32 people can play and it is over as soon as everyone dies?

The combat is in waves until reinforcements run out. Once you die, usually you wait for 20-40 seconds or less and then next wave spawns. Once reinforcement runs out, no more spawning.

Overall I am very pleased with the new additions in RO. I think my favorite parts are the smoother movement, manual bolting and the the way your guy will rise above obsticles when you go to iron sights then duck back down when you're reloading or bolting. Tanks are also a blast.
